Kelly Thesier, of Minnesota.Twins.MLB.com, reports Minnesota Twins C Chris Heintz will not be sent down when C Joe Mauer (quadriceps) returns and the team will go with three catchers for the time being. Manager Ron Gardenhire wants to keep the third catcher in case there are any setbacks with Mauer. It will also allow him to use C Mike Redmond, who is hitting .302 this season, at the designated hitter spot.

The Associated Press reports the Minnesota Twins recalled C Chris Heintz from Triple-A Rochester Sunday, May 6. He takes the roster spot made available by C Joe Mauer's (quadriceps) placement on the 15-day disabled list.

Kelly Thesier, of Minnesota.Twins.MLB.com, reports Minnesota Twins 3B Jeff Cirillo (knee) underwent an MRI on his left knee Tuesday, April 3, which revealed an old meniscus tear. Cirillo was first bothered by the soreness Sunday, April 1, but it wasn't until the Twins Opening Day game Monday, April 2, that it began to really bother him. He was taken out in the sixth inning of that game and will likely be rested for a few more days. He was also given a cortisone shot to ease the pain. It is hoped he will return by the weekend. C Chris Heintz will replace him as the backup at the corner infield positions.
