Adam McCalvy, of MLB.com, reports the Colorado Rockies signed Japanese League 2B Luis A. Gonzalez to a minor league deal Wednesday, Dec. 31, according to The Denver Post. He will make $500,000 if he is on the major league roster, plus $50,000 in incentives if he reaches 350 plate appearances. He will make $10,000 a month if he is in the minors.

The Associated Press reports former Colorado Rockies 2B Luis A. Gonzalez was suspended one year by Japanese baseball after testing positive for amphetamines. Gonzalez was playing with the Yomiuri Giants. Yomiuri plans to release the 28-year-old player shortly.
