Blue Jays | Jose Bautista gets on twice in return

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 19:12:49 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) went 1-for-3 with a walk out of the leadoff spot in his first game back off the disabled list Monday, July 25, against the San Diego Padres.

Fantasy Tip: It was Bautista's first game since June 16. Although he's been disappointing this year to the tune of a .230/.360/.455 slash line, he's still one of the game's premier sluggers and can be returned to starting fantasy lineups. The fact that he got a hit, albeit only a single, in his first game back should at least help him settle in again right away.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista activated from DL

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 12:40:19 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) was activated from the disabled list Monday, July 25. He is starting in right field and leading off against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista is an elite power commodity in all fantasy formats, and he should be returned to starting lineups. For the season, the outfielder sits with 41 runs, 12 home runs, 41 RBI and a .230/.360/.455 slash line through just 65 games. His return projects to significantly cut into the playing time of Ezequiel Carrera and Darwin Barney.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista says he's ready

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 16:35:37 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) acknowledged that his toe isn't 100% yet, but he feels healthy enough to return to the majors after he finishes his rehab assignment with Class AAA Buffalo this weekend. He isn't concerned about returning and playing on the turf at Rogers Centre. Bautista is unsure if he'll immediately return to the outfield or serve as the designated hitter, and he was also non-committal about returning to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Joey Bats wasn't helping his fantasy owners in average this year (.230), but his power remains intact with 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 235 at-bats. Bautista is a high-end outfielder in all leagues in a potent Toronto lineup, and he should be returned immediately to starting lineups if he's activated early next week. Ezequiel Carrera will be hurt the most by Bautista's return.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista starting rehab assignment

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 16:02:32 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) will begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Buffalo Friday, July 22, and will play three games there. He could return from the disabled list Monday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Joey Bats has been a disappointment in the average department (.230), but he's managed 12 homers and 41 RBI in 65 games and should remain stashed everywhere in a potent Toronto offense. Look to get him back into your lineups next week. Ezequiel Carrera's fantasy stock is likely to take the biggest hit.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista has turf toe

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 15:32:31 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) has been diagnosed with turf toe and is expected to remain in a walking boot for a few more weeks.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Bautista will not return before the All-Star break, so owners should continue to keep an eye on the situation. Ezequiel Carrera has received most of the work while Bautista has been sidelined and is a fine option for owners if he is available in their leagues.

Blue Jays | Ezequiel Carrera belts third homer

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 15:51:41 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Ezequiel Carrera connected on a solo shot for his only hit in three at-bats in a loss against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, June 18. Carrera received another start in right field in place of Jose Bautista, who was placed on the disabled list Friday, June 17, with a toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: All Carrera has done this season is produce when given the opportunity, batting .326 with three homers, six RBI and three steals while scoring 23 runs and logging just over half of his 95 at-bats out of the leadoff spot. With Bautista sidelined for at least two more weeks, the 29-year-old Venezuelan is set to bat atop the order of what had been a resurgent offense prior to Saturday. Particularly against left-handed starters, Carrera should be a sneaky good play in DFS while Bautista is away.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista has sprained toe

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 16:46:22 -0700

Updating previous reports, Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) is dealing with a sprained left big toe, and he was wearing a walking boot Friday, June 17. A preliminary exam didn't show any fractures, but Bautista will have further testing to determine the severity of the injury. He's hitting .230 with 12 home runs and an American League-high 48 walks in 65 games.

Fantasy Tip: Joey Bats isn't hitting for average these days, but he has big-time power and is a big asset in leagues that count on-base percentage. He should be stashed everywhere. In the meantime, Ezequiel Carrera becomes a starter in the outfield and is worth a pickup in the majority of leagues.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista to see specialists

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 13:28:31 -0700

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (toe) will have his left toe examined by specialists to determine the severity and nature of his injury. The toe is not believed to be fractured.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on the severity of Bautista's injury and how long he'll be on the disabled list. Ezequiel Carrera should receive close to full-time starts for the duration of Bautista's absence, which makes Carrera a fleeting option in the majority of fantasy formats.
