Blue Jays | Jose Bautista still limited to DH

Mon, 04 May 2015 21:18:06 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) remains limited to designated hitter duties, and the team isn't expected to have him back in the field for at least another week. He has yet to resume throwing due to his sore right shoulder. "He's still quite sore. We're going to re-evaluated it here at the end of the (New York Yankees) series," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Joey Bats ($5,800; 11.6% of cap) has been fighting through injury since April 21. With Bautista hogging up DH it is costing 1B Justin Smoak ($2,200; 4.4% of cap) at-bats, as Edwin Encarnacion ($5,800; 11.6% of cap) remains the primary first baseman.

Blue Jays | More DH duty for Jose Bautista

Mon, 04 May 2015 13:22:46 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) won't resume throwing until later this week, according to general manager Alex Anthopoulos. Bautista isn't expected to return to outfield duties until next week, at the earliest.

Fantasy Tip: With Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) mainly serving as the designated hitter while his shoulder recovers, Justin Smoak ($2,700, 5.4% of cap). Smoak last started a game April 26. Continue to avoid him at FantasyScore. Bautista remains in consideration for a daily lineup spot each and every night.

Blue Jays | Joey Bats still limited to DH

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 21:41:00 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) played his third straight game as the designated hitter Wednesday, April 29, against the Boston Red Sox. He is unable to throw well enough to play the field after being sidelined for five games due to a right shoulder strain.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista was hitless in four at-bats with a pair of strikeouts. FantasyScore players would do well to avoid Joey Bats ($5,800; 11.6% of cap) until he gets a little closer to 100 percent.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) returned to the lineup Monday, April 27, against the Boston Red Sox. He was hitless in three at-bats while serving as the designated hitter.

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 14:20:20 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup in his return to the lineup Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) should be a fine option for FantasyScore users against Boston Red Sox starter Joe Kelly tonight, even though he's not back to full health just yet. Bautista is a .299 career hitter with 20 home runs, 27 walks and a 1.054 OPS at Fenway Park in 47 games.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista day-to-day

Sun, 26 Apr 2015 10:43:01 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) said his shoulder is showing improvement but is still considered day-to-day. Bautista hopes to play in the upcoming series against the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has missed the last four games because of the injury but may be able to return in a few games. Bautista should be an option on FantasyScore once he returns to the lineup.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista hopes to play this weekend

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 15:50:10 -0700

Updating previous reports, Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) is out again Friday, April 24, but he's hoping to return to the lineup as the designated hitter sometime this weekend. The hope is that he'll be back in right field around the middle of next week. Manager John Gibbons said Bautista would take some swings Friday in the cages.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista's ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) shoulder injury isn't believed to be serious, and he should avoid a DL trip. Once he's back in Toronto's starting lineup, he should be a viable FantasyScore weapon in daily games.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista returning Monday?

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 10:15:39 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) is hoping that he can serve as the designated hitter by Monday, April 27. OF Michael Saunders (knee) will not join the team Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) might sit out this weekend to rest his troublesome shoulder. Danny Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is likely to benefit the most until Saunders returns from the disabled list this weekend. Valencia, though, is a low-end third base option that can probably be ignored by daily gamers.

Blue Jays | Manager hopeful Jose Bautista avoids DL

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 13:38:01 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) will return as a designated hitter before playing right field, and manager John Gibbons is optimistic Bautista will avoid the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: This is a situation to continue to keep tabs on. While returning as the DH seems positive, if Bautista isn't healthy enough to play the field, is he healthy enough to be in your FantasyScore lineups? Potentially in favorable matchups, but the smart money might be to take a wait-and-see approach with Bautista in daily contests. In seasonal leagues, you'll want to return him to your lineups immediately, though.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista remains out

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 12:36:51 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup Thursday, April 23. 3B Danny Valencia is starting in left field and hitting eighth in the batting order against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap), despite being off to a good start (6-for-10), isn't attractive to FantasyScore users on this getaway day.
