Blue Jays | Jose Bautista has big game Monday

Mon, 18 May 2015 15:46:27 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, a walk and his seventh home run of the season in a victor Monday, May 18. He raised his average to .235.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has been slow out of the gates in 2015, and an ailing right shoulder may be partially to blame. However, his shoulder is getting healthier, and it may coincide with improved results with the stick. He hasn't been worth the price at FantasyScore lately, but if he starts to heat up, that could change quickly.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista's shoulder progressing

Mon, 18 May 2015 10:32:57 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) threw from up to 40 feet in an indoor batting cage before the game Monday, May 18, and he felt fine. Bautista is will "continue to progress."

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Bautista's ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) bum shoulder isn't going to keep him out of the lineup, as he's been serving as the designated hitter. However, it may be playing a part in his slow start (.216-6-20). Until we see more signs of life from his stick, you may want to continue being cautious playing him at FantasyScore. Justin Smoak's ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) playing time continues to suffer with Bautista unable to play the field.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista still relegated to DH

Tue, 12 May 2015 20:00:55 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) remains limited to designated hitter duties. He went 1-for-4 with a double, walk and run scored Tuesday, May 12, against the Baltimore Orioles. "He's one of the centerpieces of our lineup," manager John Gibbons said.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players don't care if Joey Bats is in the field or not, as long as he is in the lineup. At $5,800 (or 11.6% of cap) he is a decent source of power for FantasyScore players.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista unable to throw

Tue, 12 May 2015 07:06:20 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) is unable to throw due to shoulder soreness, and he's unsure of when he'll be able to. "Sometimes I wake up and I can't brush my hair, sometimes I wake up and it feels OK, obviously not good enough to throw," Bautista said.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays will have the luxury of the DH until June 1, which gives Joey Bats plenty of time to return to the outfield. Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of your cap) is hitting .323 with five RBI in 31 May at-bats despite the ailment and is a daily consideration on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista sits out

Mon, 11 May 2015 22:03:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) was rested Monday, May 11, against the Baltimore Orioles due to a combination of reasons, manager John Gibbons said. The skipper cited Joey Bats' strained shoulder and poor career numbers against SP Ubaldo Jimenez as the reason Bautista did not start.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista ($5,800; or 11.6% of cap) made a pinch-hitting appearance in the ninth inning, so his health is not a major concern. FantasyScore players can feel confident using him going forward as long as he is back starting.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista out vs. Orioles

Mon, 11 May 2015 12:43:17 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista is not in the starting lineup against the Baltimore Orioles Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, there is no indication Bautista's ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) absence is injury related. While the slugger did deal with a nagging shoulder injury in late April, Monday is likely just a routine game off for rest. Make sure to remove Bautista from all fantasy lineups Monday.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista struggles against Sabathia

Wed, 06 May 2015 12:25:28 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista, who is expected to return after resting Tuesday, May 5, is 3-for-29 with 10 strikeouts in his career against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is performing below his standards this year so far (.205-5-17), and it might be attributed to a bum right shoulder. His bad numbers against Sabathia are a turnoff, but Sabathia has been pretty bad this year with decreased velocity. Bautista isn't a bad pick at FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista out of lineup Tuesday

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:24:14 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays DH Jose Bautista is out of the lineup Tuesday, May 5. DH Edwin Encarnacion is in the lineup and batting fourth.

Fantasy Tip: Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) appears to be getting a simple off night, so remove him as an option. Encarnacion ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) carries a similar price tag and is a decent replacement for your FantasyScore lineup.

Blue Jays | Jose Bautista still limited to DH

Mon, 04 May 2015 21:18:06 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) remains limited to designated hitter duties, and the team isn't expected to have him back in the field for at least another week. He has yet to resume throwing due to his sore right shoulder. "He's still quite sore. We're going to re-evaluated it here at the end of the (New York Yankees) series," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Joey Bats ($5,800; 11.6% of cap) has been fighting through injury since April 21. With Bautista hogging up DH it is costing 1B Justin Smoak ($2,200; 4.4% of cap) at-bats, as Edwin Encarnacion ($5,800; 11.6% of cap) remains the primary first baseman.

Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista (shoulder) won't resume throwing until later this week, according to general manager Alex Anthopoulos. Bautista isn't expected to return to outfield duties until next week, at the earliest.

Fantasy Tip: With Bautista ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) mainly serving as the designated hitter while his shoulder recovers, Justin Smoak ($2,700, 5.4% of cap). Smoak last started a game April 26. Continue to avoid him at FantasyScore. Bautista remains in consideration for a daily lineup spot each and every night.
