Cardinals | Carson Palmer wants chemistry with all WRs

Wed, 15 May 2013 15:04:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer said he wants to build chemistry with all of the wide receivers because he will not be able to throw to WR Larry Fitzgerald all the time. "It's of the utmost importance to be on the same page with Larry, but it's of the utmost importance to be on the same page with every one of those guys because the ball can't always go to him," Palmer said. "I know that's not what he wants to hear, but that's the truth. There will be teams that key on him and there will be games where he doesn't have as many catches as other games. It's that much more important I have that rhythm and timing down with [WR Michael Floyd] and [WR Andre Roberts] and whoever that third and fourth guy is going to be."

Tue, 14 May 2013 21:00:05 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald will be lined up in different spots this year, sometimes working in the slot with WR Andre Roberts on the outside.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of where Fitzgerald lines up, he will again be a top-notch fantasy option worthy of a selection in the neighborhood of Rounds 4 to 6 on Draft Day.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald happy

Tue, 02 Apr 2013 13:34:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is very happy about the trade that brought QB Carson Palmer to the team Tuesday, April 2.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald should be happy, as this is a significant upgrade over what the team has had at the position before. Fitzgerald is still one of the top fantasy wide receivers in the game, and this trade should only solidify that standing.

Mon, 18 Mar 2013 21:18:44 -0700

There is no chance the Arizona Cardinals will trade WR Larry Fitzgerald, as they are more than happy with the receiver, and it would cost them a $15 million salary cap hit.

Sat, 16 Feb 2013 08:01:39 -0800

Former NFL WR Cris Carter said Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is the only other receiver in league history who is comparable in terms of pass-catching ability. "Larry Fitzgerald Jr. is the only person I'd say is comparable," Carter said. "I have never said anybody had better hands than me. No, I haven't seen that. Catching the football is a gift. You can't teach that. But Larry is the only one that's comparable."

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald laughs off QB situation

Sat, 29 Dec 2012 18:02:43 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald shrugged off how difficult it was to have had four different quarterbacks when asked about it this week. "Probably not as difficult as it would be to play with six," Fitzgerald said. Despite just 69 grabs for 785 yards, a down year by his standards, Fitzgerald was named a Pro Bowl alternate.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald struggles again

Sun, 16 Dec 2012 18:10:08 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald had four catches for just 22 yards in the Week 15 game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Even in victory, Fitzgerald did very little. He has just six catches for 67 yards over the past four games, making him a candidate for the waiver wire if not for his past production and big name. Really, fantasy owners can no longer depend on him in their playoff games if they are still alive.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald not giving up

Tue, 11 Dec 2012 16:12:16 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald doesn't think the team has quit on their season, despite his father thinking otherwise. "We're professionals. That will never happen," Fitzgerald said. "We're going to continue to play. We're going to continue to practice. We're going to continue to prepare every week like we would if we had won nine games in a row. That's not going to change. We're not going to quit." Fitzgerald had just one catch for two yards in Week 14 and has only 652 yards on the season.

"It felt like right before I got injured last year," Thurmond said. "I felt real comfortable. It was just football out there today. I really felt back into the groove of things."

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald fairly quiet in loss

Sun, 25 Nov 2012 21:22:44 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald posted three receptions for 31 yards in the Week 12 loss against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald has posted just four catches for 42 yards over his past two games, and he has found the end zone only once in the past five games. He also has just one 100-yard game this season, and that happened way back in Week 3. As such, he is best used as a WR2/3 or flex play until the team's QB play improves.

Cardinals | Early Doucet likely odd-man out

Tue, 13 Nov 2012 12:30:29 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Early Doucet will likely be the odd-man out with WR Michael Floyd expected to become a bigger part of the offense in the second half of the season. WR Andre Roberts will likely line up opposite WR Larry Fitzgerald in the team's two-receiver sets, but Floyd is a prototypical outside receiver in three-wide sets. "If Mike played more, he's just learning the 'Z' (position) and I would be forced to go into the slot," Roberts said. "I don't know what that would do to my reps. We have a whole bunch of formations. We'll see."

Mon, 22 Oct 2012 12:16:43 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald was not thrown to when he went deep in Week 7 because the Minnesota Vikings kept a safety behind Fitzgerald the entire game. QB John Skelton said he believes future opponents will use that scheme to try to stop Fitzgerald. "I think a lot of teams are going to start looking at it that way and play coverage over the top," Skelton said. "We've got to find other ways to get the ball down the field."

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald close to a milestone

Sat, 13 Oct 2012 08:07:58 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald needs 48 more receiving yards to reach 10,000 in his career. Fitzgerald has averaged 67.4 yards per game this season, and he has reached or exceeded 48 yards in 95 of his 129 regular-season games (73.6 percent), so he should accomplish the feat in Week 6. Fitzgerald would join San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss as the only players in history to amass 10,000 receiving yards before turning 30.

Sun, 30 Sep 2012 18:38:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald had a team-high eight receptions for 64 yards and a score in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: After being blanked in the first two games, Fitzgerald has TDs in back-to-back games. WR Andre Roberts is emerging as a viable threat in the passing game, and that is opening up more chances for Fitzgerald. That's great news for his fantasy owners heading into Week 5 against the St. Louis Rams Thursday, Nov. 4.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd remains low on depth chart

Thu, 16 Aug 2012 07:45:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd remains behind WRs Andre Roberts and Early Doucet on the depth chart, and he has played with the reserves through two preseason games. The complementary role should help Floyd ease into the league, according to WR Larry Fitzgerald. "Michael has a unique opportunity," Fitzgerald said. "He's not going to be asked to carry the full load. He'll have a nice complementary role until he gets comfortable in there and he can get featured more and more. He's confident in his ability, and that's what I really like about him."

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald on the decline?

Mon, 16 Jul 2012 05:27:48 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald will turn 29 in the preseason and he acknowledges that he is on the downside of his career. As a result, Fitzgerald sees his window of opportunity to win closing. "I don't have another eight, nine years to play. I would love to, but realistically, that's not going to happen. So the window of opportunity is short, and that's another reason why I talked to Michael (Floyd), why I talk to Andre (Roberts)," Fitzgerald said. "I tell them, 'Before you know it, you're going to look down and find gray hair in your beard. You're going to be sore in parts that were never sore before. It changes that fast, and I never realized that before. So I need your best right now.'
