He has shed 20 pounds during the offseason and has impressed the coaching staff with his quickness, burst and cutting ability. Plus, he is now in his second year within the Bears' system. "There's definitely plenty of snaps to get Kevin in there. He gives us some good solid running ability with a lot of experience. He's had a great offseason and has worked really hard," offensive coordinator Ron Turner said.

Turner said, "He'll just be a guy to spell [starter] Matt [Forte] in our base package. He's quicker, he's faster, playing with more confidence. He's not tentative on the knee or anything. He's had a great offseason. He's going to be productive for us. He's going to have a pretty good role." Turner has used a two-back system before, with former Bears RB Thomas Jones carried 296 times in 2006 while former RB Cedric Benson had 157 carries.
