Mets | David Wright rehab update

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 18:31:47 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) is building stamina in order to work out multiple days in a row without experiencing discomfort. Once he is able to do this, he will begin facing live pitching.

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) said he has a return date in mind but isn't ready to share it with the public. However, he is a notoriously slow healer and is likely to need a lengthy rehab assignment before coming back. Wright was batting .333 with a home run and four RBIs through eight games prior to landing on the disabled list.

Mets | David Wright fielding grounder

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 11:46:51 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) fielded ground balls at third base Friday, July 31, and he has been participating in more baseball activities this week.

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as next week, so for the first time in a long time, there may be progress in his recovery. Still, he is a notoriously slow healer and has only played eight games this season. He is worth stashing, but keep your expectations in check with this version of Captain America.

Mets | David Wright may play rehab games soon

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:43:28 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) could begin playing in rehab games within the next week, according to manager Terry Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has not played since April 14, so he likely will need a good amount of rehab games before he is able to return to the Mets. Owners should monitor the situation to receive a better timetable for his return.

Mets | David Wright to continue activities

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 13:57:54 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) took ground balls Tuesday, July 28, and will continue to do more baseball activities on back-to-back days. He might take some batting practice Wednesday, July 29, but no date has been set for him to play in rehab games.

Fantasy Tip: With no return date in sight for Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) his owners have to seriously wonder if he'll make much of an impact at all for the rest of this season. If you don't have the room to stash him in a shallow league, we wouldn't blame you for dropping him.

Mets | David Wright to begin baseball activities

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 16:05:49 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) is expected to rejoin the team Tuesday, July 28, or Wednesday, July 29, for baseball activities.

Fantasy Tip: There remains no timetable for Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) to come off the disabled list, though, and there's no guarantee he'll be very productive whenever he does return to the field. Continue stashing him everywhere, but at this point you shouldn't expect much production for him for the rest of 2015.

Mets | David Wright set for the next step

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:44:16 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) will begin baseball activity in New York next week.

Fantasy Tip: While this is clearly progress, Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) remains without a return timeline, and this season is looking more and more like a lost year. Wright hasn't exactly been the quickest healer in the past, either. He is worth stashing if you have the room, but any fantasy contributions from Wright this season should be seen as a bonus.

Mets | N.Y. to trade for third baseman?

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 10:52:57 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) is hoping to transition from his back rehab in California to the team's spring training facility in Florida within a couple of weeks, but that's "up in the air." The Mets might need to trade for a third baseman if Wright isn't able to progress, since New York prefers to move 2B Daniel Murphy off the hot corner.

Fantasy Tip: With no improvement being seen in Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), it's looking more and more likely that he won't be much help to fantasy owners for the rest of 2015. Aramis Ramirez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been mentioned as a possibility, but his already fading fantasy value would likely take even more of a hit with a move to New York.

Mets | No change with David Wright

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 05:24:06 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) has no update on his back injury, and general manager Sandy Alderson said there has been no change.

Fantasy Tip: There was talk that Wright could be back by the All-Star break, but it doesn't sound like he's anywhere close to returning. Keep him on the DL if you can, but this may be a lost season.

Mets | David Wright turning a corner?

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 15:30:28 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) could start taking ground balls and running next week.

Fantasy Tip: There's no guarantee that Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) will progress to baseball activities, but the team is optimistic. There remains no timetable on his return and given his injury history and slow-healing ways, expect him back later than sooner. Ruben Tejada ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) continues to benefit from an everyday role with the Mets' infield shuffling around Wright's injury, but he's strictly a fantasy option for those in deeper mixed and NL leagues.

Mets | David Wright still without return timetable

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 15:31:51 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) remains in Los Angeles, receiving treatment for the narrowing of the spinal cavity in his lower back. There is no clear timeline for his return, according to general manager Sandy Alderson. "I think he's making progress with his rehab, but he hasn't transitioned to baseball activity," Alderson said Friday, June 26. "I honestly can't tell you on Monday when I talk to him again that he will have transitioned to baseball activity. It's something where we just have to wait and see."

Fantasy Tip: At this point, fantasy owners should be thrilled to receive any significant contribution from Wright this season, as there is a legitimate chance he stumbles upon his return. Plus, there is no indication when he'll return. For the time being, he is worth stashing in all formats, but expectations should be kept in check.
