Mets | David Wright not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 24 May 2016 12:53:47 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is not in the lineup Tuesday, May 24, against the Washington Nationals. 3B Ty Kelly is batting eighth against Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg. The team has also moved SS Asdrubal Cabrera to the No. 2 spot in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Wright has dealt with back issues in recent games, but this appears to be a normal night out of the starting lineup. Kelly was hitting .391 in the minors at the time of his promotion and may be worth a flyer in DFS leagues Tuesday night. Wait and see how Kelly is used before picking him up in other leagues. As for Cabrera, he has five hits in his last four games and is worth the fantasy risk because of his movement up the lineup.

Mets | David Wright drives in three

Mon, 23 May 2016 21:58:11 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI against the Washington Nationals Monday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Wright has picked up a hit in each of his last four games but is hitting only .225 on the season. He should still be a starting option in most mixed leagues but may not be a great option for owners in daily fantasy leagues.

Mets | Lucas Duda out a while

Mon, 23 May 2016 13:49:27 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda (back) will be out four to six weeks with a lower back stress fracture, according to manager Terry Collins. INF Ty Kelly will be part of a committee at first base with 3B Eric Campbell in the short term. SS Wilmer Flores (hamstring) is expected to start the majority of games there once he returns from the disabled list. OF Michael Conforto will also work out at first base in anticipation of playing some games there, according to Collins. 3B David Wright is not a consideration.

Fantasy Tip: Kelly was mashing at Class AAA Las Vegas (.391/.478/.548), but his stay is likely to be short. Don't overvalue him in NL-only leagues. Flores has some surprising pop for a middle infielder and could become even more attractive with first base eligibility as depth in cavernous mixed and NL-only affairs. Make sure to stash Duda everywhere because of his 30-homer potential.

Mets | David Wright delivers in clutch

Sat, 21 May 2016 17:37:01 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright recorded his first walk-off hit since 2012, singling in the winning run in a 5-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, May 21. He finished 1-for-4 with a walk.

Fantasy Tip: Between routine days off and a .223 batting average, Wright is only worth a look in NL-only formats at this point.

Mets | David Wright, Kevin Plawecki back in lineup

Sat, 21 May 2016 10:09:48 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright and C Kevin Plawecki are back in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Zach Davies Saturday, May 21, batting second and eighth, respectively. In addition, INF Eric Campbell will bat seventh and play first base in place of 1B Lucas Duda, who is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Wright is likely to play in both afternoon games this weekend after being rested Friday, May 20. Duda has been plagued by back problems recently but it is uncertain if this is the reason he is not in Saturday's lineup. Plawecki and Campbell have combined to hit just .207 with one home run and eight RBI in 111 at-bats this year, so they should be avoided in daily fantasy contests.

Mets | David Wright takes a seat

Fri, 20 May 2016 12:52:37 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is resting and is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 20. 3B Eric Campbell is at the hot corner and is batting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta. Also, SS Asdrubal Cabrera moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: The Mets will continue to rest Wright often in order to keep him healthy all year, which will limit his already plummeting fantasy value. He's no longer a viable starter at third for fantasy owners in mixed leagues. Campbell is batting .212 in 33 at-bats and has limited fantasy appeal. Cabrera makes for an intriguing midrange shortstop option with the move up the order and with a juicy matchup in daily affairs.

Mets | David Wright to be rested often

Wed, 18 May 2016 16:58:37 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) was struggling with back problems earlier this year when he played in four straight games, which prompted the Mets to proceed with a "three and one" system, meaning around three appearances in the lineup for every four-game stretch. Manager Terry Collins said that plan could change to "two and one" or even "three and two" if he falters as the season goes.

Fantasy Tip: We knew the Mets would be cautious with the aging Wright after he missed a large chunk of time with spinal stenosis in 2015. Now the plan is more concrete, so Wright's owners know what to expect. The early returns this year aren't encouraging. He's slashing .229/.373/.413 with four home runs and eight RBI, and you can't confidently call him your starting third baseman in shallow mixed leagues.

Mets | David Wright back in the lineup

Wed, 18 May 2016 13:58:48 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) is starting at third base and batting third against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Wednesday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners can exhale. While Wright's production still has a ways to go, he clearly isn't dealing with a serious injury. Still, in the majority of seasonal leagues, you should aim higher than starting Wright at the hot corner. Through his first 30 games of the campaign, Wright has 15 runs, four home runs, eight RBI, three stolen bases and a .229/.373/.413 slash line.

Mets | David Wright scratched from lineup

Tue, 17 May 2016 14:00:19 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) was scratched from the starting lineup with a back issue Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Uh oh. Wright missed considerable time last year with back problems, so this is not what the Mets or Wright's fantasy owners want to see. On top of it, he's hitting only .229 with 25 strikeouts in 109 at-bats. The way things are going, it's a stretch to consider Wright a viable third base option in traditional fantasy leagues.

Mets | Curtis Granderson, David Wright out

Sun, 15 May 2016 12:24:44 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson and 3B David Wright are not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood Sunday, May 15. OF Alejandro De Aza will start in right field and is batting first, while 3B Eric Campbell will start at third base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: De Aza is batting .189 this season and is not a great fantasy option for owners. Owners can also avoid Campbell since he is also hitting under .200 this season.
