Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion leaves the yard

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 14:47:50 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion clubbed his 27th home run of the season against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion continues to make his case to break the bank as a free agent this offseason, as his homer total ranks third in the majors, while his 87 RBI leads all of baseball. The .265 average is a bit disappointing but right in line with his career mark. It's also the only criticism owners can level on Encarnacion, who needs to be started in fantasy any time he is in the Blue Jays' lineup.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak not in the lineup

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 09:28:54 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley Sunday, July 24. 1B Edwin Encarnacion will start at first base, while 3B Josh Donaldson will serve as the designated hitter. 2B Darwin Barney will start at third base and is batting first.

Fantasy Tip: Barney is hitting .302 with five RBI this month and has a .282 average with one home run and four RBI against left-handed pitchers. Owners in daily fantasy leagues can considered Barney as a sleeper option for their lineup. Encarnacion and Donaldson should be started in all leagues.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion socks 25th homer

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 22:45:50 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion went 1-for-4 with his 25th home run of the season Tuesday, July 19, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The long ball produced his three RBI and lone run scored in the contest.

Fantasy Tip: Just another day at the office for the perennial All-Star slugger, who climbed into a third-place tie with Kris Bryant on the home run leaderboard. Encarnacion is in good position to top his career-high 111 RBI that he set a season ago.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak out in NL park

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 16:40:07 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup in a National League park Tuesday, July 19. 1B Edwin Encarnacion is playing first base and is hitting third against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Godley.

Fantasy Tip: Expect this to be the case again tomorrow, so make sure to avoid Smoak in all fantasy formats the next two days. Encarnacion leads all of baseball with a whopping 81 RBI already to go along with his 24 homers. EE is a must-start in all fantasy leagues tonight against Godley in Arizona.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion still in team plans

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 04:52:36 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays DH Edwin Encarnacion is still in the team's plans to possibly re-sign in free agency even though it inked 1B Justin Smoak to a two-year contract.

Fantasy Tip: Toronto general manager Ross Atkins said it was Smoak's potential development that triggered the team's desire to extend him. Encarnacion will be high in demand and should be on daily and regular leagues, but will he be elsewhere in 2017?

Red Sox | Edwin Encarnacion to replace Big Papi?

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 22:42:55 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion was asked Monday, July 11, about potentially replacing Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz after this season. Encarnacion said he was honored Ortiz brought his name up, but said he is focused on his team right now and winning a World Series in Toronto.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion tabled contract extension talks after spring training, as he didn't want the distraction during the season. He is going to get a hefty payday somewhere in the offseason, whether it be Toronto or elsewhere. As such, he should put up monster numbers in the second half for fantasy owners to bump up his price tag.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion not talking extension

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 12:07:52 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion is not currently discussing an extension with the organization.

Fantasy Tip: With 57 runs, 23 home runs and 80 RBI already, Encarnacion is well on his way to his fifth consecutive monster season. He's a top-tier fantasy option in all formats and key cog in the Toronto lineup. His fantasy value could take a slight hit if he doesn't re-up with the Blue Jays, but for now, fantasy owners can rely on him for elite four-category production.
