Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion back in lineup

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:14:24 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion (finger) is back in the starting lineup as the designated hitter and is hitting cleanup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) does have 19 home runs and 56 RBI, but otherwise he's been a bit of a disappointment for the Blue Jays with a .238 average (81-for-341), and he's hitting .227 in the month of July. In his first game back after sitting out several games against ace Cueto, Encarnacion isn't the most appealing FantasyScore player to choose from.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion still sidelined

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:05:10 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion (finger) remains out of the lineup Thursday, July 30. OF Chris Colabello is starting at first base again and is hitting cleanup against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy.

Fantasy Tip: Colabello ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has tailed off a bit at the plate of late, but he's still hitting .310 (18-for-58) with four of his nine home runs against southpaws this season. He's not a terrible choice as a value pick on FantasyScore tonight.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion scratched Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 14:43:31 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion (finger) was scratched from the lineup with a jammed left middle finger Wednesday, July 29, but precautionary X-rays came back negative. OF Chris Colabello is replacing Encarnacion in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion may need to sit out a few days, so check to make sure he's in the lineup the next few games before putting him into your lineups. Colabello ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has cooled off a bit lately, but he's still hitting .313 (71-for-227) on the season and could be a nice under-the-radar play against the struggling Rick Porcello.

Blue Jays | Chris Colabello in the lineup

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:29:02 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Chris Colabello will serve as the designated hitter against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Warren Tuesday, July 28, and is batting fifth in the lineup. 1B Edwin Encarnacion will start at first base, while 1B Justin Smoak is on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Colabello ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has only four hits in his last nine games and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Blue Jays | Justin Smoak not starting

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 09:26:31 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Sunday, July 12. 1B Edwin Encarnacion will start at first base and is batting fourth.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should return to the lineup when the second part of the season begins. Encarnacion ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) should be a starting option on FantasyScore against most opponents.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion takes a seat

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 09:14:26 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion is out of the lineup Thursday, July 9, and 1B Justin Smoak draws the start hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Smoak's ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) numbers on the season aren't going to move you, but he has popped three out of the park in 10 at-bats this month. Jeff Samardzija has pitched markedly better at home this season, but Smoak is worth a look at a cheap FantasyScore price.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion hits No. 17

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 16:16:42 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion hit his 17th home run and drove in three runs during the Blue Jays' 11-2 win over the Boston Red Sox Wednesday, July 1.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is also up to 50 RBI for the season, so returning another monster year in the home run and RBI columns looks likely for 2015. Still, he is sporting a .240/.322/.476 slash line and fantasy owners wouldn't mind some improvements there, especially in the batting average. FantasyScore players can start Encarnacion with confidence in favorable pitching matchups.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion homers twice

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 20:53:58 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and a solo home run in a 12-2 win over the Texas Rangers Friday, June 26.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is providing his typical power numbers, but his .245 average highlights is inconsistency. He is a bit of a high-risk, high-reward play at FantasyScore, but he can carry a lineup on the right night.

Blue Jays | Dioner Navarro out Friday

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 13:54:35 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Dioner Navarro is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 26. 1B Edwin Encarnacion is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup, while OF Chris Colabello is at first base. OF Ezequiel Carrera draws a start in left field and is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Against Rangers starter Nick Martinez, all Blue Jays players are decent plays on FantasyScore tonight with the game in Toronto, a hitter-friendly environment.

Blue Jays | Edwin Encarnacion struggles vs. TB

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 22:51:42 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion was hitless in four at-bats against the Tampa Bay Rays Monday, June 22, and he has managed just four hits in his past 52 at-bats against the Rays.

Fantasy Tip: Encarnacion ($5,400; or 10.8% of cap) is a tremendous option for his power in FantasyScore, but when he is facing the Rays he should be avoided until he starts to hit their staff a little better.
