Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said OF Michael Bourn (hamstring) will join Triple-A Columbus this week to continue his rehab from a strained left hamstring. Bourn played in a minor league game Monday, March 31, in Goodyear, Ariz., and had two doubles. Look for Bourn to play in one or two games with the Clippers before joining the Tribe. "The reports say he's running well," said Francona. "When we get home, we want to talk to Bournie and see where he's at."

Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco is competing with Ps Trevor Bauer, Aaron Harang and Josh Tomlin for the fifth spot in the rotation. SP Shaun Marcum (shoulder) also might join the battle when healthy. General manager Chris Antonetti said Carrasco is already on the club, whether it's in the bullpen or in the rotation, hoping that will relax the pitcher who is out of options. "He felt like he was pitching for his major league life," manager Terry Francona said of Carrasco before. "He knew there a chance he'd go to Triple-A." Carrasco has made some adjustments to his delivery to give him more deception.
Fantasy Tip: Carrasco has a live arm, and could be a boon to fantasy owners in the strikeouts department if he could win a job, pitch effectively and stay healthy. All of those things have been a problem in parts of five seasons in the majors to this point.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said SS Asdrubal Cabrera (quadriceps) has been dealing with a right quadriceps injury on and off since late April. Francona said the team has been monitoring the situation and that Cabrera has been good about letting the team knows how he feels.
Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has been dealing with the injury for several weeks but has not gone on the disabled list at this point. There is still a chance he could go on the DL if the injury affects his play. If he did miss some time, Mike Aviles likely would see most of the time at shortstop. Aviles would be an waiver pick up in AL-only leagues as well as some deep mixed leagues if an owner was looking to add depth.

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona was mum on who his opening day starter would be April 2 against the Toronto Blue Jays. "I've never been in a real rush to do that even when I knew," Francona said. "There could be bad weather or someone could pull a hammy. We'll wait to we get situated."

Former Cleveland Indians C Sandy Alomar Jr. has accepted a spot on manager Terry Francona's staff for 2013. However, Alomar might still be a candidate for another manager position elsewhere this winter. Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said former Houston Astros manager Bradley Mills is also a candidate to join Francona's staff. Hitting coach Bruce Fields and third base coach Steve Smith will not be back with the Indians for the 2013 season. It is still unclear whether pitching coach Ruben Niebla, bullpen coach Dave Miller or first base coach Tom Wiedenbauer will be back with Cleveland next season.
