Richard Durrett, of The Dallas Morning News, reports the Texas Rangers outrighted P John Rheinecker off the 40-man roster Wednesday, Oct. 1, which will make him a minor league free agent on the fifth day after the 2008 World Series.

MLB.com's Drew Davison reports Texas Rangers left-handed P John Rheinecker is slated to work primarily out of the bullpen the remainder of the season. He would be brought in to face left-handed hitters, which would be a new role for him, as he's started seven of the eight games he's appeared in thus far.

T.R. Sullivan, of Rangers.MLB.com, reports the Texas Rangers have many players they would like to see in a winter league. With the Puerto Rico Winter League disbanding due to financial troubles, the Rangers are now looking elsewhere in the Carribean to find leagues for their young players to play in. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia, OFs David Murphy and Jason Botts, 3B Travis Metcalf and Ps John Rheinecker, Matt Harrison and Josh Rupe are the main players the Rangers would like to have play during the winter. "We're working hard with the other leagues to get our priority players placed," assistant general manager Thad Levine said.
