According to Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, WR Chris Cole suffered a sprained ankle and bruised shoulder on Sunday. He was feeling better on Monday. TE Desmond Clark (sprained ankle) will have his status updated on Wednesday. The team isn't sure how bad the ankle injury currently is. FB Detron Smith (concussion/neck) was banged up on Sunday, as was DL Kavika Pittman (bruised thigh). Pittman should be fine for this weekend's game.

DT Leon Lett had a mild ankle sprain; WR Rod Smith had a lower-leg bruise; FB Detron Smith hyperextended an elbow but x-rays were negative; WR Kevin Kasper had bruised ribs and LB Keith Burns had tendinitis in his Achilles' tendon. Coach Mike Shanahan said he did not expect the injuries to keep anyone out of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos RB Terrell Davis caught one pass during restricted contact drills on Tuesday, but he never carried the ball. "He could have contact any time. It is him feeling comfortable with the knee where he can make the cuts and get back in the swing of things," said coach Mike Shanahan. DT Chester McGlockton missed practice with a sore left shoulder. FB Detron Smith returned to practice as well. "Detron looked pretty good today," said Shanahan. Smith had been held out of practices from the opening workouts on July 27 while recovering from surgery for inflammation in his right ankle.

DT Maa Tanuvasa sprained his ankle in practice on Tuesday, but the extent of the injury is not known. WR Scottie Montgomery (flu) missed both practice sessions on Tuesday. Backup FB Detron Smith (ankle) was back at practice for the first time in 10 days. WR Keith Poole went through warmup drills on Tuesday but remains limited by a strained right hamstring.

An MRI of Griffith's injury revealed a pinched nerve and he is expected back on Wednesday. FB Mike Stack took most of the action at fullback, although Olandis Gary took a few snaps there to help out.

FB Detron Smith had a walking cast removed from his surgically repaired right ankle, but he isn't ready to resume full-team workouts. C K.C. Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, during his Monday press conference, stated QB Brian Griese (shoulder) will practice at full-speed on Wednesday. QB Gus Frerotte (shoulder/elbow/bruised finger) is undergoing treatment on Monday and should be fine. WR Ed McCaffrey (bruised knee) is sore but should be fine; LB Glen Cadrez (neck) underwent an MRI, which was negative; OL Matt Lepsis (sprained thumb) should be fine and RB Detron Smith (Achilles' tendinitis) is also undergoing treatment. CB Ray Crockett (hamstring) is much improved but not at 100% yet. TE Desmond Clark (fractured forearm) will undergo another X-ray to see how his arm is healing. The team will hold off on putting RB Terrell Davis (leg) on injured reserve as long as there's hope he could return this year.
