Cleveland Indians 3B Mark Reynolds takes over as the team's regular third baseman following the demotion of 3B Lonnie Chisenhall to Triple-A Columbus. Indians | Michael Bourn to be activated

Thu, 09 May 2013 12:54:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn (finger) will be activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 10, and RP Scott Barnes has been sent to Triple-A Columbus to make room on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: Get ready to put Bourn back in your lineup this weekend. It's unclear who will lose out the most in playing time in the outfield upon his return. Ryan Raburn has been swinging a hot bat, so Terry Francona might try to keep him in the lineup as much as possible at the expense of either Michael Brantley or Drew Stubbs.

Indians | Michael Bourn to return this weekend

Tue, 07 May 2013 11:48:36 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn (finger) had his rehab game with Triple-A Columbus rained out Monday, May 6, but the team expects to activate him from the disabled list this weekend if he doesn't have any setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: The return of Bourn will likely push red-hot Ryan Raburn to less playing time, although Terry Francona could choose to have him platoon in the outfield with Michael Brantley or Drew Stubbs.

Indians | Michael Bourn not taking BP

Wed, 01 May 2013 13:45:45 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn (finger) has yet to take live batting practice and there isn't a timetable for when he'll begin his minor league rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: The Tribe is being extra cautious not to bring back Bourn too soon, and they have that luxury with Ryan Raburn on fire at the plate recently. However, expect Bourn to begin his rehab assignment no later than this weekend. If he hasn't by then, it may be because he's had a setback.

Indians | Ryan Raburn hits two more homers

Wed, 01 May 2013 12:17:05 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Ryan Raburn hit two home runs for the second straight game Tuesday, April 30. It was his sixth two-home run game of his career. Raburn became the first player in team history to have consecutive multi-homer games since former DH Travis Hafner accomplished the feat in 2004. Raburn is 9-for-17 with seven RBIs in his last four games.

Fantasy Tip: Raburn has seen increased playing time in the outfield thanks to Michael Bourn's (finger) DL stint. Hopefully you took advantage of this at least in AL-only leagues, because Bourn is nearing a return and Raburn's PT will decrease as a result.

Indians | Michael Bourn has stitches

Tue, 16 Apr 2013 16:30:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn (finger) needed five stitches to close the gash on his right index finger, and he has his finger splinted. X-rays came out negative on his finger Monday, April 15. OF Drew Stubbs was in center field and leadoff off Tuesday, April 16, and 2B Ryan Raburn was in right field and batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Bourn's injury isn't serious, but he'll need a DL stint to let the cut heal completely. Expect him to be back when he's eligible to return.

Indians | Mike Aviles to re-adjust to reserve role

Wed, 27 Mar 2013 21:28:33 -0700

Cleveland Indians INF Mike Aviles will open the regular season on the bench as a utility player. He has served as a regular in the past, as has OF Ryan Raburn. Manager Terry Francona understands the transition back to reserve status. "The hardest thing will be the first couple weeks of the season," Francona said Wednesday, March 27. "You're trying to get guys locked in. That's a little bit of a trying time for the bench, because you get routine at-bats (in spring) - every other day or something - and then the season starts."

Fantasy Tip: Aviles is useful to fantasy owners in AL-only fantasy leagues due to his eligibility at multiple positions, but he is likely to get around 10-15 at-bats per weeks limiting his appeal.

Indians | Versatility helped Ryan Raburn

Wed, 27 Mar 2013 21:27:14 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Ryan Raburn was informed he has made the team's Opening Day roster, winning a bench spot. He displayed an effective swing with some power during Cactus League spring play.

Fantasy Tip: While Raburn could be an option at second base, third base and the outfield corners, helping fantasy owners with his versatility, he likely won't get enough regular playing time to warrant using in anything but the deepest of AL-only leagues.

Ps Nick Hagadone and Bryan Shaw and 2B Ryan Raburn will be added to the 25-man roster. SP Carlos Carrasco will open on the major league roster, serve his six-game suspension and then be sent to Columbus.
