Phillies | Ryan Howard hot hitter at Busch

Thu, 28 May 2015 12:35:40 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard has a career .343 batting average with 11 homers and 39 RBIs, as well as a 1.111 OPS, in 34 games at Busch Stadium.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has turned his career around following three very disappointing seasons, and there are rumors the St. Louis Cardinals could enter the picture as a trade candidate with 1B Matt Adams (quad) out. Keep an eye on what happens.

Cardinals | Options to replace Matt Adams?

Thu, 28 May 2015 07:31:51 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (leg) is likely done for the season, which has fueled speculation that the Cardinals could have interest in Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Milwaukee Brewers 1B Adam Lind and Colorado Rockies 1B Justin Morneau may also be available via trade, Rosenthal writes. Lind has a club option after 2015, and Morneau has a mutual option. The Phillies are willing to cover the majority of Howard's remaining $50 million-plus contract, although the Cardinals seem to have little interest in impeding Adams in 2016. It is unknown if Howard would waive his 10-and-5 rights to accept a trade to St. Louis.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals may try to get by with 1B Mark Reynolds, but a trade is entirely possible to land a complementary bat for matchups against right-handed pitchers. Keep an eye on the situation in the short term.

Phillies | Ryan Howard sitting out

Sun, 24 May 2015 10:07:59 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 24. 1B Darin Ruf will take his place in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has struggled against left-handed pitchers, so he receives a day off. Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .256 with five RBI this month but is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Ryan Howard rolling on the road

Sat, 23 May 2015 18:40:44 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-1 win over the Washington Nationals Saturday, May 23, and he is hitting .385 with three home runs and five RBIs through the first six games of their 10-game road trip.

Fantasy Tip: Howard's ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) strong month shows no signs of stopping, and he is providing great production for the price at FantasyScore right now.

Phillies | Ryan Howard crushing at Coors Field

Thu, 21 May 2015 18:16:18 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 7-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies Thursday, May 21, and he is hitting .395 in his last nine games at Coors Field.

Fantasy Tip: Although Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) may have been helped by Colorado's hitter friendly park, he has been solid in May in general. He is hitting .325 with five home runs, and he has nice upside for the price at FantasyScore thanks to his power.

Phillies | Ryan Howard having solid May

Thu, 21 May 2015 00:49:21 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is hitting .328 (21-for-64) in May with four home runs and 10 RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) looks the best he has in four years, ever since that fateful Achilles tear in the 2011 National League Championship Series. At this lower price, he is definitely worth putting in your lineup.

Phillies | Ryan Howard sitting

Sun, 17 May 2015 08:45:27 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard isn't in the lineup Sunday, May 17, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and RHP Josh Collmenter. 1B Darin Ruf will start at first and bat cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has hit just .132 off righties this season, in 57 plate appearances. FantasyScore owners need to ignore Ruf completely.

Phillies | Ryan Howard snaps skid

Thu, 14 May 2015 19:20:08 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in a 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, May 14, snapping a 0-for-9 stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting just .230 this year, but he still has some upside against right-handed pitchers thanks to his power. He should be considered a high-risk, high-reward play at FantasyScore.

Phillies | Ryan Howard out Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 12:31:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup against the New York Mets Saturday, May 9. 1B/OF Darin Ruf will start at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Despite hitting a go-ahead home run Friday, May 8, Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will find himself riding the pine Saturday because the Phils are facing left-handed SP Jon Niese. He had been on a hot streak recently, batting .364 this month and .421 over his last 10 games.

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) likely is sitting out since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Darin Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will start at first base but is not a great option for FantasyScore.
