The Chicago Examiner's Michael Street reports free-agent RP Akinori Otsuka (Rangers) will throw for 30 teams in the next month or so. Otsuka missed all of last season due to elbow surgery.

Evan Grant, of the Dallas Morning News, reports Texas Rangers RP Akinori Otsuka (elbow) has reported no problems with his elbow after beginning a throwing program last week. If Otsuka is able to convince the club he is healthy, they will likely keep him as closer in 2008. However, if he has another setback, he would likely require Tommy John surgery.

T.R. Sullivan, of Rangers.MLB.com, reports Texas Rangers RP Akinori Otsuka (elbow) will most likely not pitch again this season. Otsuka attempted to throw off flat ground Wednesday, Sept. 5, and experienced difficulty. Rangers pitching coach Mark Connor said Otsuka is still 10 days to two weeks away from being able to pitch off a mound again.

The Associated Press reports Texas Rangers RP Akinori Otsuka (elbow) has been shut down by the Texas Rangers for up to three weeks before he can attempt to throw again. There is a very good chance Otsuka will not pitch again this season.
