Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel (quadriceps) is recovering from a strained left quadriceps, and he is in "calm-down" mode as he lets the swelling go down. "He'll just do mobility stuff and regular manual strengthening, just what's tolerable while they try to calm everything down," manager Kirk Gibson said. "The MRI showed some fluid in there, which means there's swelling. He'll try to work that out, as well, and then start ramping up at that point."

Fantasy Tip: Kubel is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list April 28, but that looks unlikely at this point. Fantasy owners will want to keep him reserved until he can officially return and prove his health. It might be early May before he is playing regularly in the majors.

An MRI exam for Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel (quadriceps) revealed fluid buildup in his left quadriceps, meaning that his stay on the disabled list could last longer than the minimum 15 days.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel (quadriceps) is bothered by a left quadriceps injury and isn't in the lineup Friday, April 12. He said he's improving, though.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be just a day-to-day nagging injury. Expect Kubel to return to the lineup in the next day or two unless he suffers some sort of setback.

Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel (leg) was rested Tuesday, April 2, against the St. Louis Cardinals, as manager Kirk Gibson wanted to rest his left leg, which bothered him at times during the spring. Kubel said playing nine innings Monday, April 1, didn't bother him at all, and the training staff continues to do a good job working on his leg.

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel is out of the lineup Tuesday, April 2, and manager Kirk Gibson wanted to take it easy on Kubel's legs. The team may try to work in more off days for him to keep him fresh after he tired down the stretch last season.
