Detroit Tigers 3B Brandon Inge's two strikeouts Monday, Sept. 20, gave him 1,094 in his career, leaving him five short of Lou Whitaker's franchise record. According to The Associated Press, Whitaker played 1,105 more games with the Tigers than Inge has.

Tom Gage of The Detroit News reports former Detroit Tigers 2B Lou Whitaker is back with the team as a special coach during spring training, marking the first time since 1995 Whitaker has been with the team. "I had four beautiful kids to be with," Whitaker said, "but they're all grown or close to grown and they don't need me as much. Now I'd like to share what I know. I learned from others my whole career. I watched, I observed, I think I can help."
