Sat, 26 May 2012 10:26:27 -0700 Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said P Francisco Liriano is returning to the starting rotation and will start against the Oakland Athletics Wednesday, May 30. He will replace P Anthony Swarzak in the rotation, after he allowed six runs over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Detroit Tigers Friday, May 25. Liriano was 0-5 with a 9.45 ERA in six starts to open the season before he was demoted to the bullpen, where he allowed four earned runs over 7 1/3 innings during five relief appearances.

"It's been tough, to be honest," Liriano said. "Having the spring that I had and coming into the season then walking so many guys and getting behind in the count, it's kinda tough for me. "We've said this over and over again, so we're going to step back to see what we need to do to try to get his confidence back and try to figure some things out with him," Gardenhire said. Liriano said he would be open to a move to the bullpen.
