Tue, 19 May 2015 19:37:40 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Liriano ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has allowed at least six runs in two of his last three starts and has seen his ERA go from 1.95 to 4.15 over the last three games. Liriano is scheduled to pitch against the New York Mets in his next start and may be a risky option on FantasyScore.

Pirates | Francisco Liriano a hard-luck loser

Wed, 13 May 2015 21:13:17 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano allowed just three runs and six hits with six strikeouts over seven innings in a loss Wednesday, May 14, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Liriano is 1-3, but he has a solid 2.96 ERA. The pitcher has been getting little run support despite pitching well. FantasyScore players still get solid value at $5,800 (or 11.6% of cap) thanks to his solid amount of strikeouts.

Pirates | Francisco Liriano looks to tame Cubs

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 09:55:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano has a 4-2 record and 2.30 ERA in nine career starts against the Chicago Cubs, and he hasn't allowed more than two runs to them in any of his nine starts.

Fantasy Tip: Liriano ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) is a fine choice tonight for your FantasyScore pitching staff, even though the Cubs have been hot lately at the plate. His strikeout upside can't be ignored.

Pirates | Francisco Liriano's start pushed back

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 07:24:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano (personal) will not make his scheduled start Sunday, April 12, because his wife had a baby. His start has been pushed back to Wednesday, April 15. SP Casey Sadler will be the starting pitcher Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Sadler should only receive one start and return to the minor leagues. Owners in all leagues should not consider using him in their lineups.

Pirates | Francisco Liriano to start season opener

Tue, 17 Mar 2015 14:00:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano has been named the team's Opening Day starter.

Fantasy Tip: Liriano is a year removed from a career year in 2013 in which he went 16-8 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 163 strikeouts in 26 starts. With this left-hander, you have to take the often shaky control with the high strikeout numbers. For Liriano's consistent 9.0 K/9, he's worth a middle-rounds pick.
