Dodgers | Zack Greinke pitches well Friday

Sat, 25 Apr 2015 05:17:16 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke pitched seven scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres Friday, April 24, to pick up his third win of the season. Greinke struck out seven batters and walked three during the outing.

Fantasy Tip: Greinke ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) has started the 2015 season on a strong note with a 1.35 ERA over the first four games. He has struck out 21 batters in 26 2/3 innings during that span. Greinke will face the San Francisco Giants in his next start and should be a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke loves Petco Park

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 18:31:26 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke will start on the road against the San Diego Padres Friday, April 24, and he is 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA in five career starts at Petco Park.

Fantasy Tip: Greinke ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) allowed one earned run on two hits in a home start against the Padres April 7, and he has been dominant in San Diego. If you pay up for a starter at FantasyScore Friday, make sure it's Greinke.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke, Yasmani Grandal gelling

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 11:30:39 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke and C Yasmani Grandal have worked very well together in both of Greinke's starts in 2015, and Greinke has had nothing but good things to say about Grandal after working with C A.J. Ellis previously in his Dodgers career. "You're paying attention to see what it's going to be like. But, like I said, it's been great. There was a little bit of a rumor, but he hasn't shown anything but positives, not just to me. Every one of our pitchers has been impressed with him," Greinke said. Greinke allowed five hits and no walks while striking out seven to lower his ERA to 0.69 against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, April 12.

Fantasy Tip: Grandal ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) could very well become Greinke's personal catcher at this rate. Although he's hitting just .214 (3-for-14), Grandal isn't a bad buy-low catching option at FantasyScore when he's in the starting lineup.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke has success against Pads

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 15:31:00 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke is 4-0 with a 1.84 ERA in seven career starts against the San Diego Padres, and he hasn't allowed more than two earned runs to them in any of his starts.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Greinke ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is the most expensive FantasyScore starter Tuesday night, you should look to find a way to get him into your lineups against the Padres. San Diego's offense is much-improved, but they also will strike out a lot.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke mechanic tweak succeeds

Wed, 01 Apr 2015 14:14:05 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke made a minor mechanical tweak in his delivery to induce a groundball Wednesday, April 1, and then struck out the next four batters. Greinke conferred with pitching coach Rick Honeycutt, and Honeycutt recommended the same mechanical tweak.

Fantasy Tip: Spring training isn't an important indicator for veterans. So Greinke's ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) so-so spring numbers shouldn't be a concern as he prepares his repertoire for the regular season. Greinke should be viewed as a low-end No. 1 starter for your fake rotation. His first start will come against the new-look San Diego Padres Tuesday, April 7, and he should be on your radar as a potential FantasyScore starter.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke makes spring debut

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 16:52:11 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) made his spring training debut Wednesday, March 11. Barring any setbacks, he expects to be ready by opening day.

Fantasy Tip: A healthy Greinke slots nicely into fantasy rotations as an SP2. Monitor how his elbow responds to throwing in spring training, but he should be selected in the early to middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke has positive BP session

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 12:30:34 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) looked sharp Friday, March 6, facing hitters during a bullpen session for the first time since a mid-February injection in his right elbow. He is on track to throw another bullpen session before making his spring debut Wednesday, March 11.

Fantasy Tip: As long as there are no setbacks, Greinke is a solid No. 1 starter worth targeting early in drafts. Since joining the Dodgers, the 31-year-old righty has a 2.68 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP with 355 strikeouts over 380.0 innings through two seasons. Continue to monitor the situation this spring.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke to throw soon

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 09:15:27 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) is scheduled to throw batting practice Friday, March 6, and will start in a spring training game five days later.

Fantasy Tip: Greinke has been dealing with an elbow issue and is slowly working his way back. It looks like Greinke should be fine for the regular season if he does not suffer any setbacks. He likely will be an option in one of the earlier rounds in mixed league drafts.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke throws bullpen

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 13:58:09 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, March 3, and manager Don Mattingly said Greinke has progressed steadily since receiving a precautionary elbow injection.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers are being extremely cautious with Greinke this early in the spring. It doesn't appear that fantasy owners should be worried with the health of Greinke's right elbow at this time. You can continue to consider him a fantasy ace worth an early-rounds selection in drafts.

Dodgers | Zack Greinke feels fine

Wed, 25 Feb 2015 10:17:38 -0800

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (elbow) threw his first bullpen session since an elbow injection Tuesday, Feb. 24, and he said he's not worried about the health of his right elbow. "It's the same as I did last year, at the end of the year, at the beginning of the year, in the offseason and the last time I talked to you guys," said Greinke. "There's always a little bit of concern." Greinke had received a lubricating injection of hyaluronic acid, which he's had in previous springs, in order to aid arthritic joints. He threw 24 fastballs Tuesday in what he said was "normal bullpen percentage" intensity. Greinke said he's "maybe three or four days behind some people. That's not a big deal."

Fantasy Tip: Greinke's elbow concern shouldn't concern you too much when drafting. Greinke should continue to sit firmly in the middle of the group of pitchers that is acceptable for a No. 1 pitcher for a fantasy baseball squad.
