Baltimore Orioles bench coach Willie Randolph is serving as the team's third-base coach Sunday, May 22, as a result of John Russell needing time to recover from an injection in his left knee. Randolph also coached third base Saturday, May 21, and may need to do so again for the next few games.

The Baltimore Orioles hired former manager Willie Randolph as their new bench coach Tuesday, Nov. 23, according to MLB.com's Spencer Fordin. The staff also includes third base coach John Russell, pitching coach Mark Conner, bullpen coach Rick Adair, first base coach Wayne Kirby and hitting coach Jim Presley.

Updating previous reports, Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin announced that manager Ken Macha would be returning in 2010 for the second year of his two-year contract, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In addition, Melvin decided to add an option to Macha's contract for the 2011 season. "He didn't ask for (the option)," said Melvin. "He said, 'It doesn't matter to me. I don't do this job for security. I do it to win ball games.' The option tells him I do support him in his role as manager." Melvin also invited back bench coach Willie Randolph, hitting coach Dale Sveum, third base coach Brad Fischer and first base coach Ed Sedar.
