Florida Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen's coaching staff for next year has been finalized. Joey Cora will be the bench coach, Eduardo Perez the hitting coach, Randy St. Claire the pitching coach, Joe Espada the third base coach, Gary Thurman the first base/outfield/baserunning coach and Reid Cornelius the bullpen coach. Bench coach Brandon Hyde and fielding coach Perry Hill will not return.

Chicago White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said he went behind former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen's back to sign an extension is because Cooper was told Guillen was asked about giving his coaching staff extensions and said "let them sweat." "Cooper needs to look in the mirror," Guillen said. "He didn't back-stab me. I know who he is. He back-stabbed his fellow coaches, the guys he worked with for years. You got family? That's fine. Everyone does. We all knew Coop was (GM Kenny Williams' puppet.)"

Florida Marlins third base coach Joe Espada and bullpen coach Reid Cornelius will remain with the team under new manager Ozzie Guillen. Joey Cora will be Guillen's bench coach. Pitching coach Randy St. Claire and hitting coach Eduardo Perez will also stay with the club. Bench coach Brandon Hyde and first base/infield coach Perry Hill appear to be out.

According to an article in the Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional by Ignacio Serrano, Florida Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen has expressed interest in Chicago Cubs SP Carlos Zambrano. He is owed $18 million on his contract next year and the story claims that the Marlins would pay that money in deferred payments.

The Florida Marlins acquired P Ricardo Andres from the Chicago White Sox Thursday, Sept. 29, in the trade that also brought manager Ozzie Guillen to the Marlins.

The Florida Marlins officially signed manager Ozzie Guillen to a four-year deal Wednesday, Sept. 28. Guillen will receive around $10 million or roughly $2.5 million per season. He was making $1.8 million per year with the Chicago White Sox.
