The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Guy Curtright reports Atlanta Braves RP Carlos Almanzar (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery on his elbow for the second time in two seasons. He re-injured the elbow while making a rehab appearance at Triple-A. He'll miss the rest of the season and part of next season.

Updating a previous item, Sports Network reports Texas Rangers RP Carlos Almanzar (elbow) will undergo ligament replacement surgery on his ailing elbow Friday, May 13, and will miss the remainder of the season. Almanzar will also have some work done on his ulnar nerve.
