The statue will be unveiled Aug. 10 and will join Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Harry Caray.

Santo, a diabetic, was hospitalized for a heart ailment that did not require surgery. He is expected to miss the team's upcoming six-game trip.

He was admitted to the hospital Saturday, April 21, and his return to the radio booth is undetermined. Santo was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was 18, and both of his legs were amputated in recent years. He had a heart bypass in 2000, and was diagnosed with bladder tumors in 2003.

Santo received the most votes of all those in contention this year.
