Cardinals | Matt Holliday works out

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 20:10:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (leg) participated in pregame defensive drills Tuesday, April 26, at Chase Field in Arizona. He skipped batting practice, at the medical staff's request, but took swings in the indoor cage instead.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday might be sidelined for another day, but it doesn't sound like he will be out long. Wait to see him officially return and play a full game without any setbacks before plugging him back into the active fantasy lineup in seasonal daily leagues and DFS play.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday not playing

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 14:41:59 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (leg) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26. OF Jeremy Hazelbaker is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Shelby Miller.

Fantasy Tip: Given Holliday's age and lower-body injury that plagued him last year, this is a bit concerning to his fantasy owners. Check back for updates on when he might return to the lineup. Hazelbaker (.308/.333/.731 with five homers and 13 RBI) has done nothing but hit when in the Red Birds' lineup. A matchup against Miller, who has been off mechanically, is a perfect time to take advantage of his hot start.

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 13:10:01 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday, 1B Matt Adams and 2B Kolten Wong are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea Sunday, April 24. OF Jeremy Hazelbaker will start in left field and is batting sixth, while 2B Jedd Gyorko will start at second base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Moss and Hazelbaker have struggled at the plate recently but could still be decent options in daily fantasy leagues because of his success earlier in the month. Gyorko is hitting .333 with two home runs and four RBI over the last seven days and could also be an attractive starting option.

Cardinals | Tommy Pham leaves game early

Sun, 03 Apr 2016 10:53:14 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Tommy Pham (oblique) left the game early Sunday, April 3, because of left oblique tightness. OF Matt Holliday has moved to left field, while 1B Matt Adams will take over at first base.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out on the situation to see if Pham needs to be placed on the disabled list. Holliday probably would spend most of his time in the outfield with Adams starting at first base. Both Holliday and Adams would be fine options in deeper leagues.
