Cardinals | Matt Holliday has big game Monday

Mon, 30 May 2016 17:08:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI Monday, May 30, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He also hit his ninth home run of the year.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday's season has mostly been lackluster, but he's starting to heat up, as this was his third straight multi-hit game. He's also homered twice within that span. The 36-year-old is proving that he is indeed still a useful asset in fantasy.

Cardinals | Brandon Moss starting vs. Washington

Thu, 26 May 2016 13:45:48 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Brandon Moss is starting in left field and batting fifth against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Thursday, May 26. OF Matt Holliday is not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Moss is a low-end option in the majority of seasonal leagues because he isn't receiving consistent at-bats, and of his eight home runs, two were pinch-hit bombs. He is a viable option in daily contests Thursday, but you'll likely be able to find a better price-matchup combo. Make sure to avoid Holliday in all fantasy formats Thursday.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday out of the lineup

Sun, 22 May 2016 11:06:19 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke Sunday, May 22. OF Brandon Moss will start in left field and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Moss has only one hit in his last seven games, so owners should be able to find better options to use in their starting lineups.

Cardinals | Brandon Moss not in Sunday lineup

Sun, 15 May 2016 14:29:19 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Brandon Moss is not in the lineup Sunday, May 15, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. OF Matt Holliday is at first base for the game and will bat third against Dodgers SP Alex Wood.

Fantasy Tip: Moss is on the bench because of the lefty vs. lefty matchup, so don't be surprised if he pinch-hits once Wood is out of the game. Holliday is hitting very well, with a .300 batting average, three homers and five runs batted in over the past week. Needless to say, he should be in any fantasy format.

Cardinals | Two homers for Matt Holliday

Fri, 13 May 2016 04:48:53 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday hit a pair of home runs Thursday, May 12, in a 12-10 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Holliday now has six homers this season. He matched a career high with four hits in the game.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday was beset by injuries this season, but so far things are looking up for the veteran outfielder. He has a .267 batting average but owns a .534 slugging percentage thanks to the extra-base power. Holliday remains a potent bat, one of the better ones for fantasy purposes in that Cardinals lineup.

Cardinals | Brandon Moss hitting cleanup

Wed, 11 May 2016 15:54:09 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Brandon Moss is starting in left field and is batting cleanup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker Wednesday, May 11. OF Matt Holliday is in the designated hitter role again in an American League park.

Fantasy Tip: Shoemaker was just recalled out of necessity from the minors to make the start, so this is a nice matchup to roll Moss out there in. Shoemaker allowed six homers in his five previous starts this year, too. Moss surely has power, too, with seven bombs on the year in 90 at-bats. He's a good play in daily formats.

Cardinals | Jeremy Hazelbaker receives a start

Tue, 10 May 2016 14:30:56 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Jeremy Hazelbaker is starting in left field and is batting eighth against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Tuesday, May 10. OF Matt Holliday is serving as the designated hitter in an American League park.

Fantasy Tip: Hazelbaker has cooled considerably since his hot start and has only two hits this month in 11 at-bats, but he's also seeing much less playing time. Against the lefty Santiago in a low lineup spot, Hazelbaker's daily ceiling is severely limited.

Cardinals | Three Cards out Thursday

Thu, 05 May 2016 08:21:31 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals SS Aledmys Diaz, OF Randal Grichuk and OF Matt Holliday are out of the lineup Thursday, May 5. OF Brandon Moss is hitting third, OF Jeremy Hazelbaker is hitting sixth and SS Ruben Tejada hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Moss is an interesting choice to hit third considering he is hitting .233 with 25 K's in 73 at-bats. He does have six homers and 16 RBI, so he's worth some low-end consideration against Jerad Eickhoff. Hazelbaker has cooled considerably since a storybook first two weeks. He's hitting .212 with two homers the last 15 games. He's a bleak low-end flyer. Tejada doesn't pack enough offensive punch to consider in DFS today.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday back in the lineup

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 15:03:10 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (leg) is in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Patrick Corbin Wednesday, April 27, and is batting third in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday returns to the lineup after missing the last game because of a leg injury. He has five hits and three RBI over the last seven games and should be a starting option in most mixed leagues.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday works out

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 20:10:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (leg) participated in pregame defensive drills Tuesday, April 26, at Chase Field in Arizona. He skipped batting practice, at the medical staff's request, but took swings in the indoor cage instead.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday might be sidelined for another day, but it doesn't sound like he will be out long. Wait to see him officially return and play a full game without any setbacks before plugging him back into the active fantasy lineup in seasonal daily leagues and DFS play.
