Bill Ladson, of MLB.com, reports the Washington Nationals promoted Devon White to the position of special assistant in player development Wednesday, Oct. 29. White was the team's roving outfield coordinator last season. He previously turned down the first-base coaching position because of family reasons.

Diamondbacks | Byrnes has 25-25 vision

The East Valley Tribune's Jack Magruder reports Arizona Diamondbacks OF Eric Byrnes stole two bases in the sixth inning Sept. 27, becoming the first player in franchise history with 25 homers and 25 stolen bases in the same season. Devon White went 22-22 in 1998.

Diamondbacks | Byrnes second D-Back to join 20-20 club

The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports Arizona Diamondbacks OF Eric Byrnes became the second Diamondback player in team history to hit 20 homers and steal 20 bases in a season. The only other 20-20 player in franchise history was Devon White in 1998 (22 of each).

The Associated Press reports Anaheim Angels IF Chone Figgins hit his 14th triple of the season Tuesday, Aug. 10, which broke the franchise single-season record shared by Jim Fregosi (1968), Mickey Rivers (1975) and Devon White (1989).

The AP's Tim Reynolds reports New York Yankees 2B Alfonso Soriano broke the single postseason record for strikeouts with 23, moving past former Marlins OF Devon White who had 23 in 1997.
