Dodgers | Clayton Kershaw honored with Clemente Award

Major League Baseball presented Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw with the Roberto Clemente Award at a news conference before Game 4 of the World Series Sunday, Oct. 28, at Comerica Park. The award recognizes the player who best represents the game through positive contributions on and off the field, including sportsmanship and community involvement.

Cardinals | Pujols to be presented with Roberto Clemente Award

MLB | Pennsylania House urges MLB to retire Clemente's number

The Associated Press reports the Pennsylvania House of Representatives urged Major League Baseball to retire Roberto Clemente's No. 21 in a resolution passed Tuesday, Oct. 16. The lawmakers are the latest group to contend that Clemente should be honored in the same way that Jackie Robinson was for breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier in 1947.

MLB | Rawlings All-Time Gold Glove team announced

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports winners were announced for the Rawlings Gold Glove's all-time team on Aug. 22, and the winning lineup included San Diego Padres SP Greg Maddux, C Johnny Bench, 1B Wes Parker, 2B Joe Morgan, SS Ozzie Smith, 3B Brooks Robinson and OF Ken Griffey Jr. (still with the Cincinnati Reds), OF Roberto Clemente and OF Willie Mays.

Mets | Delgado wins Clemente Award

The Associated Press reports New York Mets 1B Carlos Delgado won the 2006 Roberto Clemente Award, given annually to a major league player who combines community service with excellence on the field. "This is a great honor for me," Delgado said before Game 3 of the World Series. "This is something really special, just because I'm Puerto Rican 34 years after Roberto has passed, his legacy is still very much alive."
