Dolphins | Miami pulls surprises with first depth chart

Sun, 05 Aug 2018 12:30:27 -0700

Miami Dolphins RBs Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore both appeared atop the team's first depth chart Sunday, Aug. 5. Another one of the more notable surprises was TE Mike Gesicki, who was listed as the fifth-string tight end.

Fantasy Tip: This comes with the obvious caveat that depth charts released a month before the first game can usually be taken with a grain of salt. For example, Gesicki is in no danger of getting cut and has reportedly looked very good in camp. Drake should still be considered the favorite to lead this team in all rushing categories, but owners need to understand he will probably lose at least 100 to 150 touches to Gore, making him a bit of an untrustworthy RB2 in fantasy.

Dolphins | Frank Gore will have a role

Mon, 09 Jul 2018 08:05:31 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Frank Gore wasn't brought in to strictly be a mentor for RB Kenyan Drake, and Gore will be mixed in the offense. Head coach Adam Gase said Gore turning 35 this season was irrelevant because he's a different player.

Fantasy Tip: Gore probably won't be used as often unless Drake breaks down. Look for him in a part-time role with some weeks of 50-50 split potential. Gore is an RB4 or RB5 with little upside.

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake not a lock to start

Fri, 01 Jun 2018 10:55:02 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake will not be guaranteed a starting job in 2018 as he battles Frank Gore in camp, according to comments made by running backs coach Eric Studesville to The Miami Herald this week.

Fantasy Tip: The Herald's Armando Salguero went so far as to say the Dolphins will determine the roles in training camp during what will be "more a competition than coronation." While Drake still remains the favorite, Gore didn't sign with Miami to be a little-used backup. Miami is also reportedly smitten with Kalen Ballage and his potential, although Salguero emphasizes he will not push for the top spot right away. Drake should lead the backfield in touches, but Gore figures to be a drain on his fantasy value.

Dolphins | Frank Gore turned into workhorse late

Mon, 28 May 2018 20:38:44 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Frank Gore carried the ball 100 times from Week 13 to Week 17 in 2017, while still a member of the Indianapolis Colts. He fell one rushing attempt shy of matching then-Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson for the most such carries.

Dolphins | Frank Gore will be limited

Wed, 23 May 2018 18:03:30 -0700

Miami Dolphins RB Frank Gore likely will not participate in many team drills during offseason workouts, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: The team probably wants to keep Gore fresh for the regular season, so Kenyan Drake should receive plenty of work during workouts. Gore will share playing time with Drake but could see a majority of the carries. Gore has a chance to be a No. 3 or No. 4 back for fantasy owners.

Dolphins | Miami adding Frank Gore

Thu, 22 Mar 2018 13:04:24 -0700

Free-agent RB Frank Gore (Colts) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 22, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Gore likely will serve as a backup to Kenyan Drake in 2018 but could receive some touches during games. He may be a late-round pick in deeper standard leagues but proobably will not be a big factor for owners.

Dolphins | Frank Gore visiting Dolphins

Thu, 22 Mar 2018 05:50:16 -0700

Free-agent RB Frank Gore (Colts) is visiting the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 22.

Fantasy Tip: Gore can still be useful in fantasy if he receives volume carries. He might top out as an RB3, but there isn't a lot of upside.

Lions | Detroit working on deal with Frank Gore

Wed, 14 Mar 2018 18:52:16 -0700

Free-agent RB Frank Gore (Colts) is close to reaching a contract agreement with Detroit Lions, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gore is one of several veteran running backs that the Lions have met with this offseason. He could receive most of the carries if he joined the Lions but would have to share work with Theo Riddick and Ameer Abdullah. Gore could be a No. 3 running back in standard leagues if the deal is finalized.

Lions | Frank Gore set to visit Motor City

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 19:45:47 -0700

Free-agent RB Frank Gore (Colts) is scheduled to visit with the Detroit Lions later this week, according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.

Fantasy Tip: The Lions currently have mostly perimeter runners/passing-down back occupying the top spots on their running back depth chart in Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick, so securing an inside-the-tackles back makes a ton of sense despite the fact Gore will turn 35 in May. With that said, Gore is clearly on his last legs and would be a flex option at best in Detroit.
