The Atlanta Falcons will announce the introduction of their Ring of Honor during the team's home opener, Sunday, Sept. 19 against the St. Louis Rams, according to AtlantaFalcons.com. The inaugural inductees are RB William Andrews, QB Steve Bartkowski, LB Tommy Nobis, and LB Jessie Tuggle.

AtlantaFalcons.com reports that retired linebacker Jessie Tuggle will be honored at halftime on December 22, 2002 by the Atlanta Falcons. Tuggle played 14 seasons with the Falcons and is their all-time leading tackler with 2,065 tackles.

As an update to previous stories, the Trenton Times reports if LB Jessie Tuggle does indeed attempt a comeback for the 2002 season, the Green Bay Packers are one team believed to have an interest in pursuing him.

Former Atlanta Falcons MLB Jessie Tuggle, according to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli, still hopes to sign with an NFL team. The Falcons let Tuggle go last year and he sat out the entire season.

Updating yesterday's story, Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com Atlanta Falcons LB Jessie Tuggle has decided to retire. "It's the only uniform I wanted to wear and, in this day and age, not many players can say they spent their entire career with one franchise," Tuggle said. "I wanted to be one of the few guys able to claim that. Maybe I could have played (somewhere else) but it wouldn't have been the same."

Updating an earlier story, Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com the Atlanta Falcons have actually told LB Jessie Tuggle he will not be part of the regular season roster. He was given the option Monday morning of either retiring or being released. As previously reported, Tuggle cleaned out his locker, took down his nameplate and departed the Falcons practice facility. Sources close to Tuggle said he is considering his options for at least the next 24 hours. Coach Dan Reeves is hoping Tuggle will choose the retirement option.

The AP reports Atlanta Falcons LB Jessie Tuggle was not at practice on Monday. His locker was cleaned out and his name plate removed. A teammate, LB Keith Brooking, said he thinks Tuggle is retiring. A Falcons spokesperson would only say Tuggle was not cut. Tuggle has not played in the pre-season because of a hand injury.

AtlantaFalcons.com reports Atlanta Falcons LB Jessie Tuggle said he will not see game action this week. Tuggle recently underwent surgery and returned to practice yesterday. Tuggle said the reason for his participation was to help his conditioning. QB Doug Johnson (back) also returned to practice.

As a follow up to this morning's story, SportsTicker reports Atlanta Falcons LB Jessie Tuggle will indeed miss three-to-four weeks with an injured right thumb. He suffered torn ligaments in the thumb and sustained a chip fracture during practice on Saturday. Tuggle underwent surgery earlier today to insert a pin to set the thumb back into alignment.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Atlanta Falcons LB Jessie Tuggle has a thumb injury that could sideline him for three to four weeks. He was able to finish practice on Saturday, despite spraining his left thumb. Exact details were not available, but ligament damage is suspected and could require surgery to insert a pin in the joint, team spokesman Aaron Salkin said. If he can't practice, Mark Simoneau and Jeff Kelly will compete at middle linebacker.

According to AtlantaFalcons.com, Atlanta Falcons LB Corey Atkins and OT Michael Thompson both were forced to leave the afternoon practice with injured knees. The players were being evaluated and an update is expected tomorrow. Coach Dan Reeves is hoping neither injury is serious. LB Keith Brooking, DT Shane Dronett and LB Jessie Tuggle continued their training camp routine of practicing once a day.

Charles Odum, of the Ledger-Enquirer, reports for the Sporting News that Atlanta Falcons LB Jessie Tuggle is making good strides in his recovery from last year's season-ending knee injury. Tuggle said he's been scared by how well his knee has recovered and noted it's tough for him to tell it was even injured. Entering his 15th year in the league, Tuggle is expected to be paired up with much younger linebackers next to him this year. He said the younger players keep him going as he's busy trying to keep up with them.
