Orioles | J.J. Hardy, Matt Wieters out Sunday

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 09:20:40 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy and C Matt Wieters (foot) remain out of the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Sunday, July 24. INF Ryan Flaherty will bat seventh and play shortstop and C Caleb Joseph will start behind the plate and bat eighth. In addition, OF Julio Borbon is back in left field and will hit ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Flaherty is 5-for-11 versus Kluber in his career, while Joseph is 7-for-19 over the past week following a slow start at the plate this year. Both players are worth considering as inexpensive fliers in daily fantasy games.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy heating up

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 11:24:08 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy is 19-for-55 (.345) this month with four doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the recent good results for Hardy, he still maintains an unattractive .264 average with just four home runs and 20 RBI on the season and is a low-end shortstop option in deep mixed and AL-only formats.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy's hit streak snapped

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 19:47:16 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy was hitless in three at-bats with a walk Monday, July 18, against the New York Yankees to snap a 10-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the hitless evening, Hardy has picked up the pace improving his average from .233 to .263 just since July 2. He has re-emerged as a must-start fantasy option in AL-only leagues and deeper mixed formats and DFS play while healthy again.

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy extended his hitting streak to nine games, going 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, July 16.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy has two homers, nine RBI and five runs scored over the streak, raising his average from .233 to .262. Grab him in AL-only leagues if you need help at shortstop.

Orioles | Matt Wieters, J.J. Hardy sitting

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 10:18:42 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy and C Matt Wieters are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with SS Ryan Flaherty hitting seventh and C Caleb Joseph hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The O's finish up a three-game tilt in an NL park, and neither Flaherty nor Joseph warrant the DFS flyer against Bud Norris.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy plates a pair

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 21:37:45 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy scored twice and accounted for both of his team's extra-base hits against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, July 4, plating two runs on a second-inning double before netting another two-bagger in the fourth.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy hasn't been relevant in most normal-sized mixed leagues for a couple of years and has been limited to 38 games this season due to injury, so chances are he's not going to be a hot commodity anytime soon. It is worth noting this is his second straight game with two hits and two RBI, so deep-league owners should keep an eye on him to see if he can keep swinging a hot bat.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy activated from disabled list

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 11:55:57 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (foot) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list. He had been sidelined due to a hairline fracture in his left foot since May 1.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy was batting .244 with two home runs and eight RBI in 22 games prior to landing on the DL. Daily fantasy players should wait a game or two before relying on him again so that he can demonstrate that he is completely healthy.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy returning this weekend

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 15:27:00 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (foot) will be activated from the disabled list Saturday, June 18, or Sunday, June 19, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy has missed approximately a month and a half, so expect there to be some rust to shake off, but there still isn't much to be excited about. He's posted an underwhelming .247/.285/.351 slash line with just 19 home runs through 1,092 plate appearances dating back to the beginning of the 2014 season, after all. Leave Hardy to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy experiencing some discomfort

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 18:35:24 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (foot) is experiencing some discomfort in the muscles surrounding the ankle of his fractured left foot but not in the bone itself.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy is currently on a rehab assignment with Class AA Bowie and could return Friday, June 17, in a best-case scenario. His numbers weren't impressive before he got injured and daily fantasy players will want to avoid using him in his first few games after he is activated from the disabled list. That being said, he remains worthy of stashing in AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues.

Orioles | J.J. Hardy could return Friday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 15:17:27 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SS J.J. Hardy (foot) could return Friday, June 17, at the earliest, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: It's about time, as Hardy has been out since the very beginning of May due to a fractured left foot. Even when he's back in the lineup, owners might want to give him some time to get back into the swing of things, as he's produced just a measly .244/.291/.410 line thus far. His return will obliterate any value held by Ryan Flaherty.
