Phillies | Cole Hamels roughed up by Yanks

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 14:55:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels allowed five runs and eight hits while walking three in five innings in a loss to the New York Yankees Wednesday, June 24, after missing his previous start with a strained right hamstring. Hamels wasn't helped by the defense behind him, either. The Phillies have failed to score in seven of Hamels' 15 starts this year, and they've been shut out in 32 of his last 33 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) certainly didn't put his best foot forward in a possible audition for one of his trade suitors today in the Yankees. He was a shaky FantasyScore play at a high price going in after missing his last start due to injury. Expect Hamels to bounce back.

Astros | Cole Hamels not an option for Houston

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 17:21:20 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels would block any trade to the Houston Astros. Houston could turn their attention toward acquiring Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir (who is a Houston native), though.

Fantasy Tip: The most likely destinations for Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) are the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, and he's already willing to waive his no-trade clause to go to either of those two teams. Hamels, an already elite fantasy starting pitcher, will gain even more value with a trade out of Philly, and he's likely to land in the AL. Save your FAAB money if you're in need of pitching help as the trade deadline approaches.

Yankees | Cole Hamels willing to join Yanks

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:56:32 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is willing to waive his no-trade clause in order to play for the New York Yankees. The Yankees appear to have Cincinnati Reds SPs Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake near the top of their wish list this summer, too. "The opportunity to play for a team that could ultimately get to the World Series is what every guy hopes for and what every guy works for, starting with the offseason and spring training," Hamels said. Yankees OF Aaron Judge and SP Luis Severino intrigue the Phillies, although it looks like Severino won't be dealt.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) remains an elite fantasy starting pitcher despite playing for the lowly Phillies. He'd certainly receive a boost to his value with a move out of Philly and to a contending team with a respectable offense to back him. Buying Hamels right now would be ideal if you can convince his current owner to part with him.

Rangers | Cole Hamels willing to go to Texas

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 10:10:55 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is willing to waive his no-trade clause in order to go to the Texas Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers and Phillies have been discussing a trade for Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) as the trade deadline nears. It's a good bet that Hamels goes somewhere this summer, if not Texas. His fantasy value will be boosted by a move out of Philly, and he'll be even more worth his high price tag on FantasyScore.

Rangers | Texas interested in Cole Hamels

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 09:39:28 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is drawing interest from the Texas Rangers, even though they are expected to get SPs Martin Perez (elbow, groin), Matt Harrison (neck) and Derek Holland (shoulder) back at some point this season.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) would see his fantasy value rise with any trade out of Philadelphia to a playoff contender, even if he moves to the American League and to a hitter's park like in Texas. Hamels remains an elite starting pitcher with a 2.96 ERA and a 9.8 K/9.

Phillies | Cole Hamels still on track

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 21:58:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels (hamstring) remains on target to start the series finale Wednesday, June 24, against the New York Yankees. Manager Ryne Sandberg said Monday, June 22, that "everything went well" in Hamels' last bullpen session.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000; or 18.0% of cap) is a risky FantasyScore play since he is coming off an injury and facing a difficult matchup on the road. Avoid.

Phillies | Cole Hamels will make next start

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 13:05:26 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels (hamstring) said he will not go on the disabled list and plans to make his next scheduled start against the New York Yankees Wednesday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) was on a roll before having his start skipped Friday, June 19. He has established himself as a fringe top-tier starter, and he is nearly matchup proof. FantasyScore players might want to see him prove his health in a start before spending up for him in contests, though.

Phillies | Cole Hamels scratched

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 09:43:18 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels (hamstring) was scratched from his start Friday, June 19, with a mild right hamstring strain. SP Phillippe Aumont will be called up to start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: There's no word yet on whether Hamels will just miss one start or require a stint on the disabled list. Stay tuned. Aumont is too wild to use on FantasyScore right now.

Phillies | Cole Hamels fans 12 but gets no decision

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 14:52:19 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels picked up 12 strikeouts Sunday, June 14, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hamels lasted seven innings before being lifted for a reliever, and he got a no-decision.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) is showcasing himself for what should be a blockbuster trade at the deadline, and this start definitely helped his value. Hamels remains a must-start in all FantasyScore lineups.

Phillies | Cole Hamels to face Bucs

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 21:00:59 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is scheduled to face the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday, June 14. He is 3-2 with a 2.73 ERA in eight career outings against the Pirates, including a win May 13 against Pittsburgh when he allowed two runs over seven innings.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($8,400; 16.8% of cap) is a solid play in FantasyScore Sunday given his mastery of the Bucs over the years.
