St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright (5-2) tossed a two-hit shutout against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, May 11, with one walk and seven strikeouts. It was his second shutout of the season and the sixth of his career. Wainwright carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning but it was broken up by a one-out single from 3B Nolan Arenado.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright is using more four-seam fastballs at the suggestion of C Rob Johnson in spring training this year. Wainwright said he threw three or four four-seamers in his career before this year.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright had another sterling outing to beat the Washington Nationals Tuesday, April 23, but he also issued his first walk in 34 2/3 innings to start the season. Wainwright improved to 4-1 and lowered his ERA to 1.93 by pitching 8 1/3 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and striking out nine.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright (2-1) allowed four hits and tied a career high with 12 strikeouts in a shutout against the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday, April 13. It was his fifth career shutout and 12th complete game. At the plate, Wainwright went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. It was the Cardinals' third consecutive shutout and the game extended Milwaukee's scoreless innings streak to 25.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright (shoulder) deflected a liner off his glove that hit him behind his right shoulder in his start Monday, April 1. Wainwright said he was fine.

Fantasy Tip: Wainwright was seen laughing in the dugout after he was hit, so it doesn't appear to be serious. However, he lost command after that inning and hung a few pitches over the plate that were tattooed. He gave up four runs after that inning.

He'll make an extra $500,000 each times he's among the top 10 in Cy Young voting, $50,000 if he's an All-Star, $50,000 for being voted the league championship MVP, for World Series MVP for a Gold Glove and $25,000 for a Silver Slugger.

The St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a five-year, $97.5 million extension with SP Adam Wainwright Wednesday, March 27. The deal will run from 2014 to 2018.
