The Detroit Free Press reports former Detroit Lions RB Billy Sims was arrested in Oklahoma on a child support warrant Thursday, Sept. 11. Sims, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1978 as a running back at Oklahoma, was stopped by police for a traffic violation after leaving an autograph-signing session in Anadarko, Okla. He was released Friday, Sept. 12, after paying $9,073 to satisfy the warrant, which dated from 1997, police said. Sims was the NFL's offensive rookie of the year in 1980. He retired from football in 1986 after injuring his knee.
