Chicago Cubs SP Travis Wood will serve as the team's No. 5 starting pitcher to open the season, with SP Edwin Jackson to open in the bullpen. However, Wood will be slotted into the No. 4 starting post so the Cubs don't have back-to-back lefties in the rotation.
Fantasy Tip: Wood's ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) first start of the season lines up at the Colorado Rockies next Friday. We don't recommend using the veteran southpaw at Coors Field at FantasyScore in his season debut.

Chicago Cubs SPs Travis Wood, Edwin Jackson, Felix Doubront and others are battling to be the fifth starter this season.
Fantasy Tip: The others would include Justin Turner and Tsuyoshi Wada. This is a battle to monitor throughout spring training, as the winner will hold value in deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats. Continue to check back for updates.

The Chicago Cubs reportedly turned down a trade offer last month which would have sent SP Edwin Jackson to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for OF B.J. Upton. Jackson is owed $24 million through the 2016 season, while Upton has approximately $49 million remaining on a deal which runs through the 2017 season. Atlanta would have had to include a significant amount of money to pull off the deal.
