Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Reds CL Ryan Madson's one-year deal is worth $8.25 million. He has a $6 million salary with $2 million deferred without interest. He has an $11 million mutual option for 2013 with a $2.5 million buyout.

Philadelphia Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Friday, Jan. 13, that he is confident in the team's signing of RP Jonathan Papelbon, who received a four-year, $50 million deal, while the team's former closer RP Ryan Madson signed a one-year deal worth $8.5 million with the Cincinnati Reds. "We knew there were other teams who were going to be very competitive in the market for closers. Once we go to an AAV (average annual value) of $12.5 million with Papelbon, we felt that was a reasonable deal for us to make."

Cincinnati Reds RP Ryan Madson will make $6 million as part of his one-year guaranteed contract. The deal includes an $11 million option for the 2013 season with a $2.5 million buyout. Some of the money will be spread out over four years. The deal will become official when Madson takes a physical.
