Tue, 20 Jan 2004 09:03:41 -0800 Dick Kaegel, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Royals are close to an agreement with free agent 3B Travis Chapman (Phillies) to play for the Royals' Class AAA team, Omaha. Chapman, 25, was not offered a contract by the Philadelphia Phillies and became a free agent. He underwent surgery on his right shoulder this off-season and is not expected to be ready to play for Omaha until midseason.
