Head coach Bill Parcells views Murrell as a change of pace back to Hambrick and said he did not realize Murrell had 16 carries during the game.

Dallas Cowboys newly re-signed RB Adrian Murrell's return has some questions, because he hasn't played in the regular season since 2000. According to sources in Dallas, Murrell is more of a slasher than starting RB Troy Hambrick is so the team may be trying to inject some speed into their running game. While head coach Bill Parcells likes Hambrick, he doesn't appear to have the wiggle the team wants to make first downs.

Associated Press reports Dallas Cowboys RB Adrian Murrell is pushing to impress the team since signing with them a little more than a week ago. He's been going non-stop since being signed, even working on days the players were supposed to take a break on. ''Being behind the eight-ball in terms of conditioning and trying to get my legs under me, that could play a part in me not being on the roster,'' Murrell said. ''But I see I can still do it. Let's see what happens.'' Murrell needed to drop about 10 pounds after being signed this month, which he was able to do within the first week with the team.

Matt Mosley, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a contract with free agent RB Adrian Murrell, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed Wednesday, August 13. Murrell is expected to be in uniform for Wednesday's afternoon practice. Jones said the Cowboys' interest in Murrell has more to do with the injury to RB Michael Wiley (rotator cuff) than a dis-satisfaction with Cowboys RB Troy Hambrick. Murrell, who has not played in two years, weighs 222 pounds. Jones says he would have to lose 7-8 pounds.

Len Pasquarelli reports for SportsLine.com it was a short six week stay with the Carolina Panthers for RB Adrian Murrell. He was released by the Panthers to make cap room for the signing of Richard Huntley. Murrell received no signing bonus so cutting him cost the Panthers nothing. Murrell had been expected to be the top backup, and performed well in off-season workouts, but Huntley is two years younger and more talented.
