Phillies Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, who will coach third base for the American team, has said that Rollins was on the squad, although Rollins indicated his inclusion was not yet definite.

The blast made him the only Phillies player besides Mike Schmidt to hit at least 20 homers in eight consecutive seasons. The team also has three players with at least 20 homers before the All-Star break for the first time in team history, with those players being Burrell, 2B Chase Utley (23 homers) and 1B Ryan Howard (20 homers).

He joined Mike Schmidt, of the 1976 Philadelphia Phillies, as the fastest players to hit 12 home runs in a season; both players reached this mark in only 15 games. Rodriguez, who has homered in four consecutive games, has also hit safely in every game this year, and leads the major leagues with 30 runs batted in and 65 total bases.

"I look at Adam Dunn and Pat Burrell and I go, 'My God, if these guys cut their strikeouts down to 75 or 80, they put the ball in play 85 or 90 more times a year. That's at least 15 more home runs a year and at least 35 more RBIs a year'," Schmidt said.

Howard tied Greg Luzinski at No. 10 on the team list for homers in a season with a two-run shot in the fourth inning. He's got 51 games to catch single-season leader Mike Schmidt, who had 48 in 1980. |
