Matt Winklejohn, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons LB Tony Ortiz is one of four players at the inside linebacker position vying for a spot. Ortiz is considered a long shot to make the roster.

Matt Winklejohn, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports there are no obvious signs that Atlanta Falcons team officials will make roster moves before the first round of mandatory cuts, but if they do, it wouldn't be a shock if they paid attention to the inside linebacker position. With Falcons LB Twan Russell (knee) having recurring left knee problems and the inexperience of rookie LB Recardo Wimbush and newcomer LB Tony Ortiz, Falcons head coach Dan Reeves acknowledged, "We're thin at the inside linebacker position." The other reserve there, playing behind starting LBs Keith Brooking and Chris Draft, is special-teams ace LB Artie Ulmer.
