The Detroit Tigers signed Japanese League P John Bale, who threw for the Hiroshima Carp last year, to a minor league contract. No financial terms were disclosed, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck.

Royals | Bale suffers right leg injury Friday

Kansas City Royals RP John Bale (leg) needed to be helped off the field Friday, Sept. 4, after injuring his right leg on his first pitch against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, according to The Associated Press. Bale appeared to catch his right cleat in the dirt on his follow through, locking his knee straight. He grimaced and doubled over in pain on the infield grass, and attempted to walk on his own, but needed assistance to walk back to the dugout.
