Chicago White Sox manager Robin Ventura will be bringing former C Mark Parent and IF Joe McEwing to the 2012 coaching staff. Parent will serve as the bench coach and McEwing will be the third base coach. The team is deciding between minor league hitting coordinator Jeff Manto and Class AAA hitting coach Tim Laker as the new hitting coach, with Manto the leading candidate.

The Associated Press' Tom Withers reports Cleveland Indians roving catching instructor Tim Laker expressed remorse for using steroids in the past while speaking Sunday, March 2. "I made a poor decision, a mistake," said Laker. "And all I can do is ask for forgiveness and move on." Laker, who played in the big leagues from 1992-2005, admitted in the Mitchell Report that he took steroid injections in the late 1990s in an attempt to provide an edge over other players. Laker (colitis, pancreas) has also been affected by health issues during his playing and coaching career, but he didn't think his health woes were linked to his steroid use.

Former MLB C Tim Laker has been named in the Mitchell Report. During an interview with investigators, Laker admitted to four transactions with personal trainer and former employee of the New York Mets Kirk Radomski.

John Sahly, of Cleveland.Indians.MLB.com, reports Cleveland Indians C Victor Martinez was given the day off Sunday, June 19, although he came into the game in the eighth inning as a pinch-hitter. He was replaced in the lineup by C Tim Laker.

Anthony Castrovince, of Indians.MLB.com, reports the combination of giving Cleveland Indians C Victor Martinez a day off and wanting C Tim Laker to catch P Jason Johnson were reasons for the changes to the Indians' lineup Friday, June 2. Indians manager Eric Wedge likes what he saw from the battery of Johnson and Laker and said, "We'll give them a shot to do it again."
