Updating previous reports, Boston Red Sox OF Ryan Sweeney (concussion) has passed his MLB-mandated concussion test and has resumed baseball activities. He took batting practice Saturday, May 26, and is eligible to come off the disabled list Monday, May 28.

Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said OF Ryan Sweeney (concussion) has not been cleared for any baseball activities at this point. He is eligible to come off the seven-day disabled list Monday, May 28, but may need more time.

Boston Red Sox OF Cody Ross (foot) is out indefinitely with a small fracture in the navicular bone in his left foot, which is the same bone that 2B Dustin Pedroia fractured in June 2010 and needed surgery on. Pedroia missed 85 total games. Ross is expected to land on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 22. OF Ryan Sweeney (concussion) will also miss the game Monday, May 21, with a "mild concussion." Sweeney is undergoing tests.

Boston Red Sox OF Ryan Sweeney (head) feels he might have a mild concussion, but he said Sunday, May 20, that he might be able to play Monday, May 21, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Boston Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez was moved down to the fifth spot in the order Monday, May 7, a day after going 0-for-8 in an extra-innings affair. The team is also facing a left-hander in Kansas City Royals SP Jonathan Sanchez. Gonzalez has a .231/.302/.385 line with three doubles and a home run against Sanchez in his career. OF Ryan Sweeney and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia are taking the day off.
