The Chicago Cubs recalled OF Ryan Sweeney and RP Rafael Dolis from the minors and optioned OF Dave Sappelt and designated RP Kameron Loe for assignment in corresponding moves.

Fantasy Tip: Sweeney will be making his debut with the club, but he'll likely only be used as outfield depth, at least initially. As a result, you should only consider him in deep NL-only formats.

The Chicago Cubs signed free-agent OF Ryan Sweeney (Red Sox) to a minor-league contract Tuesday, April 2. Sweeney will report to Triple-A Iowa.

Boston Red Sox OFs Ryan Sweeney, Daniel Nava, Mike Carp and Jackie Bradley are basically fighting for the last two roster spots. Sweeney can opt out of his contract if he doesn't make the roster. Manager John Farrell wouldn't indicate how good of a chance Bradley has at making the team.

Fantasy Tip: Bradley should already be owned in most AL-only and keeper leagues because of his play this spring and because he's a serious opening day roster candidate. He's worth an end-game gamble in deep mixed leagues if he makes the squad.

Boston Red Sox OF Ryan Sweeney will make $1.25 million plus incentives this year. "He didn't really say what he expected of me, he just said I have a good shot at making the team and begin able to play different positions," Sweeney said. "He said something before talking about maybe needing a first baseman. Not to me. ... I had talked to Ben on the phone, I was like, 'Hey, Ben, do you need me to go get a first baseman's glove?' And he just kind of laughed." Sweeney also mentioned that he is 100 percent healthy heading into spring training.

The Minnesota Twins no longer have interest in free-agent SP Manny Parra (Brewers) or free-agent OF Ryan Sweeney (Red Sox). They also had interest in free-agent SP Freddy Garcia (Yankees) but have not checked in on him since December.
