Tampa Bay Rays INF Will Rhymes (forearm) isn't playing Thursday, May 17, but he's unlikely to land on the disabled list. He wasn't allowed to take batting practice with the team before the game. OF Rich C. Thompson is making his first career big league start.

The Tampa Bay Rays placed OF Brandon Guyer (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain Wednesday, May 16, and added OF Rich C. Thompson to the roster in a corresponding move. SP Jeff Niemann (leg) was moved to the 60-day DL.

The Tampa Bay Rays are calling up OF Rich C. Thompson after they traded for him Wednesday, May 16. RP Josh Lueke is the likely option to be sent down to the minors to make room on the roster. Thompson was hitting .307 for Triple-A Lehigh Valley for the Philadelphia Phillies this year.
