Japanese League OF Matt Murton broke Seattle Mariners OF Ichiro Suzuki's single-season hit record in Japan by recording his 211th hit of the Tuesday, Oct. 5, according to The Associated Press. Suzuki had 210 hits for the Orix BlueWave in 1994. However, Suzuki set the record in 130 games, and since then, the Japanese League has extended its schedule by 14 games.

Renck, of The Denver Post, reports Colorado Rockies 3B Garrett Atkins, RP Taylor Buchholz, 2B Clint Barmes, SP Jorge De La Rosa, SP Jason Hammel, C Chris Iannetta, OF Matt Murton, OF Ryan Spilborghs and RP Huston Street are all eligible for arbitration this year. The team is expected to approach Barmes with a multi-year deal.
