Tue, 22 May 2012 17:33:59 -0700 Updating a previous report, a second opinion on Boston Red Sox OF Cody Ross' (foot) foot confirmed the original diagnosis of a displaced fracture. The team was hoping a second exam might show that the injury was old because Ross was feeling remarkably better Tuesday, May 22. The BoSox won't know a firm timetable on Ross until he comes out of a protective left boot that he was given. He will keep the boot on for "at least a few days."

Mon, 21 May 2012 15:27:04 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Cody Ross (foot) is out indefinitely with a small fracture in the navicular bone in his left foot, which is the same bone that 2B Dustin Pedroia fractured in June 2010 and needed surgery on. Pedroia missed 85 total games. Ross is expected to land on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 22. OF Ryan Sweeney (concussion) will also miss the game Monday, May 21, with a "mild concussion." Sweeney is undergoing tests.
