Milwaukee Brewers SP Chris Narveson (shoulder) will undergo surgery to fix his torn rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder, and he'll miss the rest of the season. He will need six to nine months of recovery time. SP Marco Estrada will stick in the rotation for now.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said he was impressed with the performance of SP Marco Estrada against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, April 21, and added that he would remain the team's fifth starter while SP Chris Narveson (shoulder) was on the disabled list. Estrada allowed one run on two hits over five innings Saturday, with no walks and a career-high nine strikeouts.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chris Narveson (shoulder) said Friday, April 20, he will seek a second opinion, but the likelihood is high that he needs surgery to repair a tear or tears to the rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. "It's probably surgical, but he'll get a second opinion and we'll go from there," assistant general manager Gord Ash said.

The Milwaukee Brewers placed SP Chris Narveson (shoulder) on the disabled list Friday, April 20, with a rotator cuff tear. P Mike McClendon will take Narveson's spot on the roster, and SP Wily Peralta will be added Saturday, April 21, with RP Kameron Loe going on the bereavement list.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo is scheduled to make his first Cactus League start Tuesday, March 6, against the Oakland Athletics. He is expected to make six starts during spring training and would be in line to start the season opener against the St. Louis Cardinals April 6. It would be his third consecutive Opening Day start. Gallardo would be followed in the rotation by Zack Greinke, Randy Wolf, Shaun Marcum and Chris Narveson.
