The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to open the season with a seven-man bullpen. RPs Jonathan Papelbon, Mike Adams, Antonio Bastardo and Chad Durbin are locks to make the 25-man roster, leaving seven pitchers in camp to battle for the final three spots. RPs Phillippe Aumont, Jeremy Horst, Michael Stutes and Raul Valdes, along with non-roster invitee Ps Aaron Cook, Rodrigo Lopez and Zach Miner, will compete for those spots.

The Atlanta Braves made a $13.3 million qualifying offer to free-agent OF Michael Bourn Friday, Nov. 2, ensuring them draft-pick compensation if Bourn signs with another team. Free-agent C David Ross, RP Peter Moylan, OF Reed Johnson and RP Chad Durbin were not extended offers. Bourn could receive a five-year deal with an average salary of at least $15 million on the open market this year.

Atlanta Braves RP Chad Durbin has made 19 straight appearances without giving up a run since May 8. He has held opponents to a .122 batting average over that span while striking out 16 batters and walking five. He had a 8.25 ERA over his first 14 appearances this season.
